High-speed salt-field approach

CRAIT / VISIBILITY AND CAVES

Crimson Mines

Crimson Mines is one of Crait's longer two-lap circuits. The main forward route is 9.9 km per lap with four checkpoints. The reverse configuration is 10.1 km and has five checkpoints: the distinction matters if you use reference maps or practice backward layouts.

01 / Race brief

What to do before the start

Familiarize yourself with the cave entrances and low-visibility sections before pushing full speed. Follow the event configuration: do not confuse the forward map with the reverse version.

PRIMARY DANGER · Mineral caverns and red salt visibility

Several players report that Crystal Caverns and Crait's caves can be difficult to read. Visibility practice is more valuable than guessing at hidden shortcuts.

02 / Practical step-by-step

Follow the route

Select a stage to read the corresponding driving plan. These stages follow the progression of a race, not undocumented geographic checkpoint coordinates. Use the mapped course link above for the actual road and gates.

ROUTE PHASE 01 / 4

SALT APPROACH

Red dust can hide the line and other racers. Keep a safe gap until the course opens enough to pass.

How to recognize it

Avoid accelerating blindly into the center of a dust cloud.

04 / Route selection

Shortcuts, forks and checkpoints

8 alternative lines are recorded for this route configuration, and 4 checkpoints are documented in the course database. That does not mean each branch is faster, marked in-game as a shortcut or safe for every vehicle. The atlas has top-down and 3D geometry; inspect it before committing to a fork.

  1. Open the matching main-forward route in the atlas and identify the checkpoint sequence.
  2. Find any alternate branch and verify its rejoin before making a speed comparison.
  3. Run the same version in Arcade, where possible, and complete two clean attempts on the normal line.
  4. Test one alternative at a time, using finish time and crash count to judge the trade-off.

IDS has not personally driven this game or extracted checkpoint coordinates. We do not claim a specific left-right turn or shortest line without matching gameplay/map evidence.
