Historical narrative and evidence
The Battle of the Randon system was a Republic victory during the Mandalorian Triumph of 3962 BBY. A Mandalorian force arrived after winning in the Charros system, but the Republic stopped that branch at Randon. Other invasion routes continued, and the larger Triumph still culminated in the capture of Duro.
A local victory does not reverse the whole offensive
Randon is important precisely because it prevents the Triumph from being remembered as an uninterrupted line of Mandalorian wins. The Republic could stop one prong while failing elsewhere.
Multi-route campaigns can absorb setbacks if enough other forces continue moving. The strategic question is not whether every branch wins, but whether the surviving branches still reach the principal objective.
Campaign maps need failed arrows too
Historical summaries often emphasize the route that succeeded because it explains the final result. Randon preserves a branch that did not. That failed route is evidence of Republic resistance and of the contingency inside the Mandalorian plan.
Anthropological assessment
Randon shows how institutions construct narratives of momentum. Victorious campaigns are often remembered as inevitable after the fact, even when participants experienced uncertainty and reversals.
Preserving a stopped prong restores that uncertainty. The capture of Duro was an outcome produced by surviving routes, not proof that every Mandalorian move succeeded.

What is firmly established?
The date or range, continuity, broad combatants, outcome, and campaign placement are included only where the sources below support them.
What has IDS deliberately not invented?
Unnamed commanders, exact force sizes, casualty totals, tactical phases, dialogue, and civilian experiences remain unknown unless a cited source establishes them.
Why use a schematic?
The visual is an original IDS reconstruction used where verified event-specific artwork is unavailable or rights status is unclear. It is labeled so it cannot be mistaken for canonical scene art.

What Randon tells us about the wider war
The Republic checked one prong of the Mandalorian advance at Randon. That localized defensive success did not end the separate line of attack advancing toward the Core.
Documented result
Republic victory at Randon, within the broader campaign history.
What remains uncertain
Campaign sources do not establish a complete order of battle, exact casualty figures or a day-by-day timetable for this engagement.
Research question: does this result describe the entire campaign?
No. An outcome at one system is evidence for that engagement, not a summary of all fronts. Compare the connected route before drawing conclusions about the war as a whole.
