Gar Saxon

A Mandalorian warrior whose service under Maul and later the Empire traces how factional military power can survive regime change by attaching itself to a new source of authority.

Gar Saxon emerges as a Mandalorian super commando aligned with Maul after the takeover of Mandalore. His armor and military identity place him within a faction that accepts Maul’s authority after Pre Vizsla’s defeat.

During the Siege of Mandalore, Saxon fights forces led by Bo-Katan Kryze and the Republic. The conflict is a civil war over legitimate Mandalorian government as much as a battlefield within the larger Clone Wars.

After the Republic becomes the Empire, Saxon adapts to the new political order and serves as Imperial Viceroy and Governor of Mandalore. Local military authority is preserved by becoming an extension of Imperial sovereignty.

His later conflict with Sabine Wren, Clan Wren, and Fenn Rau shows how occupation produces competing Mandalorian claims to loyalty, collaboration, and resistance.

Saxon is killed after refusing to accept defeat and attempting to kill Sabine. His career demonstrates continuity between civil-war factionalism and Imperial collaboration rather than a clean break between eras.
