IDS HOLOTABLE / MODS & GEAR

Mods, gear and ability upgrades

01 / MOD BASICS

What a mod actually changes

A mod changes a character's stats through a primary stat, possible secondary stats and a set bonus. Six mod slots exist, but a piece for the wrong slot or a poor primary stat can make the character less useful even if it increases the displayed power. Not every primary stat can occur in every slot. Mod set bonuses require matching pieces according to the set's rules.

PRIMARY

The biggest immediate choice

The primary stat is tied to the slot and can determine what the character actually does: act earlier, survive, resist or damage.

SECONDARY

Quality within a piece

Additional stats develop as the mod is improved. Useful Speed secondaries often matter, but special kits can favor other stats.

SET

A coordinated group

Set bonuses reward combinations of matching mod sets. Completing a set is valuable only if its benefit helps the character's job.

TUNING

Turn order matters

A fast support who moves after the damage dealer can undermine your opening plan. Compare whole-team Speed, not just isolated characters.

COST

Upgrades consume resources

Do not spend scarce credits or slicing resources on every mod. Identify a candidate with a useful primary and secondaries first.

ABILITY KIT

Read before committing

Some units gain damage or other benefits from Max Health, Defense, Potency or other atypical stats. Generic mod rules have exceptions.

INTERACTIVE EQUIPMENT DESK

Find a starting mod direction

This advisor offers role-based starting criteria, not optimal assignments for every unit. Many abilities scale with unusual stats; always read the kit.

Fast support: inspect turn order first

Look for Speed and enough durability to take the needed turn.

02 / SLOT REFERENCE

Primary stats by mod slot

This table is a quick starting reference. Specific mod mechanics may change with updates, and not every candidate stat is equally valuable.

SlotPrimary-stat considerationsDecision to make
Square (Transmitter)Offense primaryCompare secondary stats and set rather than search for an unavailable Speed primary.
Arrow (Receiver)Can roll Speed and several other primary statsSpeed is often useful; specific kits can prefer a different primary.
Diamond (Processor)Defense primaryEvaluate secondary stats, set and whether the piece completes your build.
Triangle (Holo-Array)Critical Damage, Critical Chance, Offense and defensive optionsConsider how the unit actually deals damage or survives.
Circle (Data-Bus)Health or ProtectionExamine protection recovery, Max Health scaling and the unit's role.
Cross (Multiplexer)Potency, Tenacity, Offense and defensive optionsConsider whether debuffs can be resisted, whether resisting matters, or whether damage is paramount.

03 / COMMON MOD MISTAKES

Avoid upgrades that do not help your team

Simple evaluation rule

Before upgrading, write one sentence: “This mod will help this character perform [specific action] before [specific threat] or survive [specific damage].” If you cannot name the benefit, save the resources.

04 / PRACTICAL WORKFLOW

Upgrade mods deliberately

  1. Open the specific character's ability text and identify whether the job is to act early, apply debuffs, survive or deal damage.
  2. Choose an appropriate set and valid primary stats, acknowledging kit-dependent exceptions.
  3. Check secondary stats, especially whether any Speed rolls are actually helpful to your intended turn order.
  4. Equip a coherent six-piece build. Observe the final stat totals instead of judging each piece in isolation.
  5. Revisit mods after gear upgrades, ability unlocks, a new teammate or a different battle mode changes the unit's role.

05 / GEAR, ZETAS AND OMICRONS

Separate four different investments

GEAR / RELICS

Long-term character investment

Gear and relic progression improves a unit and can unlock content. Check Journey and activity prerequisites before investing.

MODS

Reconfigurable stat build

Mods let you adjust primaries, secondaries and set combinations. Improve a team for a specific outcome, not merely a higher power number.

ZETAS

New ability effects

A Zeta may add a major passive or leadership interaction. Verify the ability description and how it changes the team.

OMICRONS

Game-mode-limited power

Omicron abilities frequently specify the mode where the extra effect applies. Verify eligibility before spending a scarce material.
