PLAYER GUIDE / GAME-SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS

Republic Commando: Geonosis to Kashyyyk

Republic Commando is a linear squad campaign, but many objectives appear to stall until Boss gives the correct contextual order. This guide follows the three campaign settings and explains when to command Fixer, Scorch, Sev, or the available squadmate.

  1. 01 / READ THE RETICLE

Find the context-sensitive action before proceeding

Point the reticle at a useful location: a door, terminal, demolition charge, sniper position, or turret. When a squad-action icon appears, issue the corresponding order. Merely standing near a highlighted device often does not advance the objective.

  2. 02 / ASSIGN THE RIGHT JOB

Use a commando without exposing the whole squad

Order available teammates to snipe, breach, hack, place explosives, or man a turret. Hold a defensive position while a squadmate works. The mission can require keeping the operator alive for the order to complete.

  3. 03 / USE BACTA

Heal before crossing an exposed doorway

Bacta stations restore health. When several commandos are injured, stabilize and revive them before a major engagement. An incapacitated soldier contributes nothing until helped up, making careless rushing especially costly.

  4. 04 / GEONOSIS

    Destroy the specific equipment requested

Against the foundry jammer, check what is protecting the objective. Destroy the shield mechanism before attacking the jammer itself. In the factory and Core Ship, look for demolition icons rather than firing into an invulnerable structure.

  5. 05 / PROSECUTOR

Recover separated commandos and secure the ship

The dark assault-ship chapter opens with a fragmented squad. Follow the mission markers and doors to recover missing Delta members. When the story shifts to an incoming attack, move from exploration to defending ship systems and assigned combat positions.

  6. 06 / KASHYYYK

Follow rescue, bridge, and anti-ship objectives in order

On Kashyyyk, focus first on freeing Tarfful and reaching the Wookiee defenses. Keep specialists on objectives while fighting off attackers. Later emplacements and heavy-weapon positions are not decoration: follow the objective prompts to complete the final defense.

Where to go next: story route

Find your current chapter, finish its objective, then follow the next destination. Some games allow optional stages or different mission order.

  1. MISSION 1 OF 6

    Campaign 1: Geonosis, Extreme Prejudice

Reunite Delta Squad and pursue Geonosian officer Sun Fac. At a targeted barricade, aim for the contextual demolition prompt and assign a commando while the others protect the position.

NEXT MISSION → Geonosis: infiltrate the droid foundry↑ BACK TO MISSION INDEX
  2. MISSION 2 OF 6

    Geonosis: infiltrate the droid foundry

Follow the route from the surface into the droid facilities. Locate the communications jammer and any controls protecting it; destroy or disable the shield source before expecting damage to reach the jammer.

NEXT MISSION → Geonosis: factory and Core Ship← PREVIOUS MISSION↑ BACK TO MISSION INDEX
  3. MISSION 3 OF 6

    Geonosis: factory and Core Ship

Disable the droid-production operation, then follow the canyon route toward the Separatist Core Ship. Use squad sniper and demolition positions when they appear, then complete the ship sabotage and extraction sequence.

NEXT MISSION → Campaign 2: RAS Prosecutor← PREVIOUS MISSION↑ BACK TO MISSION INDEX
  4. MISSION 4 OF 6

    Campaign 2: RAS Prosecutor

Board the apparently abandoned Republic assault ship. The opening sections separate the squad. Search for the missing commandos, use terminals and breach prompts, then clear the Trandoshan presence before defending the ship from the larger droid attack.

NEXT MISSION → Campaign 3: Kashyyyk, rescue Tarfful← PREVIOUS MISSION↑ BACK TO MISSION INDEX
  5. MISSION 5 OF 6

    Campaign 3: Kashyyyk, rescue Tarfful

Enter the Trandoshan slaver operation and follow the sequence of rescuing Tarfful, attacking the outpost, and moving toward the Wookiee defensive positions at Kachirho.

NEXT MISSION → Kashyyyk: final strike← PREVIOUS MISSION↑ BACK TO MISSION INDEX
  6. MISSION 6 OF 6

    Kashyyyk: final strike

Continue from the bridge and resistance areas into the final fighting positions. Follow the assigned tactical objective and defensive emplacement prompts. The ending is a scripted story transition rather than a hidden bonus objective.

END OF ROUTE← PREVIOUS MISSION↑ BACK TO MISSION INDEX

If you get stuck

Squadmates are not placing a charge or slicing a door
Aim directly at the targeted object until the correct contextual order appears. Confirm the order and cover the assigned commando.
The jammer or factory part seems indestructible
Locate the associated shield control, power source, or demolitions interaction described by the current objective. Shooting the protected target may have no effect.
My squad keeps collapsing before I reach the next room
Regroup, recover incapacitated teammates, and use nearby bacta. Assign one specialist to the objective while others take defensible cover.
I do not know which chapter comes next
The main campaigns proceed Geonosis, RAS Prosecutor, then Kashyyyk. Check the current in-game objective name within that setting before searching unrelated levels.

01 · Orientation

What the game is

Republic Commando shifts the Clone Wars from Jedi generals to a four-person clone unit. Squad commands, specialization, revive mechanics, and banter foreground training, cohesion, hierarchy, and clone identity at the scale of small-unit warfare.

IDS places the game in the Clone Wars era and records its continuity as Legends.

02 · Publication file

Release, studio, and platform context

Star Wars: Republic Commando was developed by LucasArts and published by LucasArts. Its primary release platforms in the IDS record are Xbox; Windows; later ports.

Star Wars: Republic Commando is cataloged as a released Star Wars game. Later ports, remasters, backward-compatible versions, or storefront reissues remain attached to this core record unless they substantially alter the underlying work.

IDS stores the game itself as one work rather than creating separate records for every port, storefront release, compatibility update, or remaster. Platform history still matters, but the archive avoids inflating a single game into several supposedly different titles.

03 · Story

Narrative and player position

The current IDS story label is Delta Squad campaigns. The playable role is recorded as RC-1138 Boss.

Rather than reducing the game to plot summary, IDS tracks what position the player occupies in the galaxy. Playing as RC-1138 Boss changes which institutions, conflicts, and social relationships the game can make visible.

04 · Gameplay systems

How Star Wars becomes playable

The game translates Star Wars into repeated player actions, objectives, feedback systems, and rules that determine what kinds of behavior the experience rewards.

IDS classifies the title as Tactical first-person shooter. That label is useful because genre changes what parts of Star Wars become legible: a strategy game foregrounds institutions and logistics, an RPG foregrounds identity and relationships, and an action game often foregrounds bodies, movement, combat, and environmental navigation.

05 · Place

Worlds, routes, and environments

Major locations in the current record include Geonosis; Prosecutor; Kashyyyk. Those places matter because games convert fictional geography into routes, obstacles, hubs, battlefields, workplaces, ruins, or social spaces the player must navigate.

Interactive scale can reveal details that screen media pass over quickly: how far locations are from one another, which areas are restricted, where people gather, what infrastructure connects spaces, and how movement is shaped by vehicles, architecture, terrain, enemies, or local authority.

06 · Institutions

Power, organizations, and social systems

The story context is Delta Squad campaigns. That places the player inside or alongside institutions whose authority is usually encountered through missions, ranks, restricted spaces, enemies, allies, contracts, or rules.

Games are especially useful for IDS because institutions become operational systems. A faction can control checkpoints, issue objectives, distribute equipment, reward loyalty, restrict movement, organize training, or shape reputation. Those mechanics make political power experiential rather than only descriptive.

07 · People

Characters and playable roles

The current playable-role record is RC-1138 Boss. IDS uses this field as a route into the characters, crews, military roles, factions, or created player identities through which the game is experienced.

Games often make character identity interactive. Abilities, dialogue choices, party membership, equipment, reputation, and mission access can determine how a player experiences relationships that screen media presents from the outside.

08 · Anthropology

Anthropological analysis

The strongest IDS entry point is the relationship between tactical first-person shooter mechanics and the story context described as Delta Squad campaigns. The player does not only learn about the setting; the player is required to act through a particular set of rules.

That distinction matters anthropologically. Interactive media can make hierarchy, labor, mobility, violence, ritual, reputation, resource management, or identity into repeatable behaviors. IDS therefore reads games as designed social systems as well as narrative texts.

09 · Source record

Verify the game

IDS separates release facts from independently written summaries and analysis. External links are retained as verification sources, but the substantive game description now lives inside IDS instead of requiring the visitor to leave the archive.
