FLASHPOINT WALKTHROUGH / IMPERIAL · ILUM STORY FINALE · STORY LEVEL 50+

The False Emperor | Exact Imperial route

The second Ilum finale Flashpoint, immediately after The Battle of Ilum. Board the captured stealth prototype, secure its hangar and power core, use Jindo Krey's ship-control terminal, survive the droid prototypes and HK-47, then finish the crucial escape-console objective after Darth Malgus.

Mode and story notes: For the connected Imperial Ilum story, complete The Battle of Ilum and be level 50+ for Story Mode. Repeatable Veteran and Master versions have separate entry/queue requirements; current Master Group Finder is level 80. The repeatable [STORY] instance alone is not the broader An Empire Betrayed quest.

  1. 01

Finish the Battle of Ilum first

If your goal is the COMPLETE story, finish the Imperial Ilum mission AN EMPIRE BETRAYED's first Flashpoint: THE BATTLE OF ILUM.

  2. 02

    Return to Moff Regus

After TALSA-KO and the Battle of Ilum completion, follow the mission back to MOFF REGUS in the Imperial Base Camp for the second-half briefing.

  3. 03

Use the Imperial base ELEVATOR DOWN

From the main Imperial Base Camp on Ilum, take the large ELEVATOR to the LOWER LEVELS. THE FALSE EMPEROR instance door is on this lower floor, near the Battle of Ilum door.

  4. 04

    Walk into the Story door

If you are on the linked [STORY] THE FALSE EMPEROR mission, enter the colored instance door directly. Do not replace it with a different difficulty given by the nearby questgiver.

  5. 05

For a repeatable run, find Commander Gerault

COMMANDER GERAULT is the Imperial-side repeatable Flashpoint contact on the lower level. Choose START STORY MODE if eligible, or use Activity Finder → SOLO → THE FALSE EMPEROR → TRAVEL at level 50+.

  6. 06

Check for combat support if alone

Story Mode provides a combat support droid. If lost, re-summon it from the icon beside the Flashpoint mission or the item in the MISSION ITEMS inventory tab.

02 · OBJECTIVE-BY-OBJECTIVE WALKTHROUGH

Where to go and what to click next

  1. 01

Board the captured stealth ship prototype

At the beginning of the instance interact with BOARD THE STEALTH SHIP PROTOTYPE. The prototype carries you to Malgus's hidden space station.

  2. 02

    Secure the Hangar Deck

Follow SECURE THE HANGAR DECK and clear enemies. TREGG THE DESTROYER patrols an early bridge; stand near a safe wall to avoid his knockback.

  3. 03

    Stop Jindo Krey's ship

Fight JINDO KREY. When his ship closes in to bombard the group, climb to the BLUE TERMINAL ON A RAISED PLATFORM near the ship and RIGHT-CLICK it to force the ship to retreat. Avoid RED GROUND CIRCLES.

  4. 04

    Advance through Power Core

Follow SECURE THE POWER CORE. When PROTOTYPES B-16 AND A-14 appear, attack only the droid WITHOUT A BLUE CIRCLE beneath it; swap when their protection changes.

  5. 05

Defeat HK-47 in the power-core approach

HK-47 marks a character with a mobile BLUE CIRCLE; reposition so the circle drops as a RED GROUND ZONE away from allies. In encounters where turrets appear, aim the dropped circle onto them.

  6. 06

    Talk to Arkis Wode

After the HK-47 objective, the next mission text is TALK TO ARKIS WODE. Find and complete the conversation rather than simply advancing past his display area.

  7. 07

    Move to the Throne Room

Continue along the station path and follow SECURE THE THRONE ROOM. CHONDRUS BERANI is an encounter on the way; step out of his orange danger zone.

  8. 08

    Defeat Darth Malgus safely

On the final platform pull MALGUS toward the THRONE STAIRS / A SAFE BACK WALL to avoid falling off when he knocks the tank back. During DOUBT, the selected player may have to handle Malgus temporarily alone.

  9. 09

Use the blue Shuttle Console to escape

After Malgus is defeated, the mission still says USE THE SHUTTLE CONSOLE TO OPEN AN ESCAPE ROUTE. LOOK FOR THE GLOWING BLUE TERMINAL ON A COLUMN NEAR MALGUS'S STAIRS and RIGHT-CLICK it.

  10. 10

    Finish the Ilum story handoff

Use the exit and review the overarching AN EMPIRE BETRAYED mission. The console interaction must register before the Flashpoint is considered complete.

Optional activities: THE HIDDEN THREAT unlocks Sith Entity: defeat 30 enemies → another 40 → override 6 command consoles → disable 3 stasis chambers → defeat the optional entity. THE ARCHITECT'S TOUR gives extra XP: 4 assembly monitors and 6 weapons consoles.

03 · COMBAT TROUBLESHOOTING

Boss mechanics without guessing

These descriptions cover the relevant objective, visual warning, controls and known failure points. Optional bosses are labeled and do not block the mandatory story.

ENCOUNTER 01 / 07

Tregg the Destroyer

Where: First dangerous bridge in the station Hangar Deck.

  1. 01

Keep a wall behind the tank

Tregg's attacks KNOCK BACK his target. A bad angle sends players off the bridge.

  2. 02

Exit the traveling red danger zone

The boss tracks an expanding RED CIRCLE that follows a player before it resolves.

  3. 03

    Continue into the Hangar Deck

Defeat him to clear the path; coordinate with the team rather than rushing across the exposed bridge.

Stuck here? Falling off the bridge is the greater danger than basic DPS. Fight with a wall behind the player being targeted.

ENCOUNTER 02 / 07

Jindo Krey and his ship

Where: Hangar boss, required before the power-core route.

  1. 01

    Look UP for the gunship

Jindo's ship moves close to bombard the group. Red ground circles show incoming fire.

  2. 02

Climb to the raised blue terminal

When the ship approaches, have a player RIGHT-CLICK THE GLOWING BLUE TERMINAL on the raised nearby platform.

  3. 03

    Repeat as the ship returns

For tougher runs, click the ship-control terminal promptly whenever needed; otherwise the bombardment becomes lethal.

  4. 04

    Defeat Jindo Krey

Continue fighting the Mandalorian while staying out of the red impact circles.

Stuck here? If the group keeps taking repeated ship missiles, someone must use the raised BLUE SHIP-CONTROL TERMINAL. Damage to Jindo alone does not stop the bombardment.

ENCOUNTER 03 / 07

Prototypes B-16 and A-14

Where: Power Core route after the hangar.

  1. 01

    Identify the protected droid

One droid has a BLUE CIRCLE underneath; it should not be your damage target.

  2. 02

    Switch to the unprotected droid

Attack the droid WITHOUT the blue circle.

  3. 03

    Keep switching as needed

If your target becomes protected, swap. The shield indicator matters more than a fixed kill order.

Stuck here? If your attacks seem ineffective, look under BOTH droids' feet for the blue protection circle.

ENCOUNTER 04 / 07

HK-47 (Reconstructed Assassin Droid)

Where: Station Power Core on route to Arkis Wode.

  1. 01

Look for the mobile blue circle

HK-47 targets one character with a BLUE CIRCLE that follows their position.

  2. 02

    Place the incoming explosion safely

The BLUE CIRCLE becomes RED and remains on the floor shortly before damage resolves. Step away from it.

  3. 03

Use the circle against turrets when present

When turrets spawn, the targeted player can position the soon-to-drop area over a turret to damage it.

  4. 04

Do not confuse this encounter with The Foundry

This HK-47 is not the central ENGAGE CORE piston puzzle from the earlier Foundry Flashpoint.

Stuck here? Blue circle → fixed red zone. Drop it clear of teammates and move away; some runs have no active turrets.

ENCOUNTER 05 / 07

Chondrus Berani

Where: Passage on the way to Malgus's throne.

  1. 01

    Avoid orange telegraph

When the ORANGE CIRCLE appears around Berani, step out before the hit.

  2. 02

Keep the group behind the target

Do not stack on the orange zone; let the tank control enemy facing.

  3. 03

    Proceed to the throne

After defeating Berani, continue forward and follow the SECURE THE THRONE ROOM text.

Stuck here? The orange circle is not a safe area to remain in. Leave it until the attack ends.

ENCOUNTER 06 / 07

Sith Entity (optional bonus boss)

Where: Stasis chamber reached through The Hidden Threat bonus quest.

  1. 01

    Complete the bonus stages

Destroy 30 enemies, then 40, override SIX COMMAND CONSOLES, disable THREE STASIS CHAMBERS.

  2. 02

    Fight divided versions

The Sith Entity separates into multiple smaller enemies. Defeat the splits to return to the main entity.

  3. 03

    Skip freely for story completion

Without the bonus quest, the entity is floating and cannot be attacked; continue toward Malgus.

Stuck here? The floating Sith Entity is not a mandatory main-quest blocker. Finish The Hidden Threat if you want its optional fight.

ENCOUNTER 07 / 07

Darth Malgus

Where: Final throne room and stair platform.

  1. 01

Tank near a wall or throne stairs

Malgus uses repeated KNOCKBACK attacks. Do not position the targeted player with an exposed platform behind them.

  2. 02

    Prepare for Doubt

Malgus marks a player with DOUBT; a group-control sequence briefly forces that player to fight him alone.

  3. 03

    Use defensives during solo window

If you are the challenged player, survive until group control ends. The remaining group should resume normal damage after it releases.

  4. 04

    Finish the boss

Defeat Malgus under the current Story/Veteran mechanics. Older launch-era guides discuss knocking him off; do not require that outdated solution for modern runs.

  5. 05

Finish at the blue escape console

After the defeat, find the GLOWING BLUE SHUTTLE CONSOLE ON A COLUMN NEAR THE STAIRS and RIGHT-CLICK it.

Stuck here? Do not search for a second Malgus after his defeat. The FINAL MISSION OBJECTIVE IS AN INTERACTIVE BLUE SHUTTLE CONSOLE beside the stairs.

04 · FIND A QUICK FIX

Why the quest is not progressing

Where is False Emperor? It is not on the fleet.

Use your ship to travel to ILUM → IMPERIAL BASE CAMP → BIG ELEVATOR DOWN TO LOWER LEVELS. Commander Gerault and the instance door are downstairs.

Reference and original discussion ↗

The Ilum story has no False Emperor mission yet.

First finish THE BATTLE OF ILUM and its post-fight handoff, then RETURN TO MOFF REGUS. AN EMPIRE BETRAYED leads into the linked [STORY] The False Emperor.

Reference and original discussion ↗

Jindo's ship keeps killing the party.

RIGHT-CLICK the GLOWING BLUE TERMINAL ON THE RAISED PLATFORM near the gunship to make it retreat. Repeat promptly as needed.

Reference and original discussion ↗

Do I need to knock Darth Malgus off the bridge?

Current guide mechanics do not require players to reproduce the legacy launch-era Force-push kill. Position safely for knockbacks and defeat him normally in Story/Veteran.

Reference and original discussion ↗

Malgus is dead, but the Flashpoint will not finish.

Your final objective is USE THE SHUTTLE CONSOLE TO OPEN AN ESCAPE ROUTE. It is a BLUE INTERACTIVE PANEL ON A COLUMN NEAR MALGUS'S STAIRS.
