1. Step 1. Speak with Major Bessiker about the toxic vault holding Tulak Hord's artifact before traveling into the Gorinth Canyon.
2. Step 2. Find the research records vault in Gorinth Canyon, not the inaccessible toxic artifact vault.
3. Step 3. Enter the records vault and locate the marked Research Records Terminal on the local map.
4. Step 4. Access the research terminal for information about genetically engineered Colicoids and toxic-waste resistance.
5. Step 5. Check that the terminal objective has cleared before leaving the records vault and making the return trip.
6. Step 6. Return to Major Bessiker for the report and unlock Extraction, which begins the scientist search.

Extraction

1. Step 1. After Scientific Inquiry, receive the lead concerning Iannos Tyrek, the Imperial scientist needed for the mutagen.
2. Step 2. Travel to Camp Kono Nolan in the Markaran Plains and locate Iannos Tyrek at the class mission objective.
3. Step 3. Talk to Tyrek about his defection and the possibility of recreating the toxic-vault serum.
4. Step 4. Complete the conversation and open your journal to check for the new personal holocommunicator objective.
5. Step 5. Use the personal holocom and answer the subsequent mission communication before departing the area.
6. Step 6. Proceed to The Path to Power and the prisoner Hiran at Outpost Victory.

The Path to Power

1. Step 1. Bessiker will not create the mutagen unless his captured son Hiran is dealt with at Outpost Victory.
2. Step 2. Travel to the Outpost Victory command office in the Gorinth Plateau and approach Hiran's cell.
3. Step 3. Use the forcefield controls to unlock the cell and start the conversation with Hiran.
4. Step 4. Choose whether to rescue the apprentice or seize his Sith holocron; the follow-up objectives can differ.
5. Step 5. On the kill-Hiran branch, recover the Sith weapon at the holocron's Gorinth Plateau coordinates.
6. Step 6. Return to Bessiker at Imperial headquarters in Sobrik; if you killed Hiran, be prepared for Bessiker's attack.
7. Step 7. Talk to Iannos Tyrek in the office to obtain the toxic-vault serum after this encounter.
8. Step 8. Continue to Into the Pit and Vault 305 at the Balmorran Arms Factory after acquiring the mutagen.

Into the Pit

Historical mission coordinates (reference only): -90, 936 — may identify a contact or objective, not the doorway to the next area.

1. Step 1. Once Iannos Tyrek supplies the serum, go to the Balmorran Arms Factory and find Vault 305.
2. Step 2. Use the Colicoid serum on yourself at the vault stage before moving into the poisonous interior.
3. Step 3. Search the mission-marked vault rooms for Tulak Hord's artifact and prepare for the guardian encounter.
4. Step 4. Defeat the Mutated Colicoid Broodmaster inside the vault and check the enemy objective clears.
5. Step 5. Interact with Tulak Hord's artifact itself to retrieve it; defeating the guardian alone is insufficient.
6. Step 6. Return to Major Bessiker and answer any ensuing personal holocom prompt before returning to the Fury.
7. Step 7. Use your ship holoterminal to report the Balmorra discovery and continue the other artifact lead.
