A second war reaches Borosk

The planet Borosk had changed hands repeatedly during the Second Imperial Civil War. In the earlier 137 ABY conflict, forces loyal to Darth Krayt, including Joker Squad and Darth Maleval, attacked the Roan Fel-aligned 908th Stormtrooper Division. That fight ended in the 908th's destruction. By 138 ABY, Borosk had returned to Fel control. The new Sith offensive created a second battle whose commanders and outcome must be documented separately from the incident involving Joker Squad.

Krayt's military recovery

Darth Krayt regained control of his Empire after eliminating the rival Darth Wyyrlok. He began a campaign to break resistance from the Empire-in-exile and its allies. The losses of Agamar and Vinsoth placed increasing pressure on Fel's forces, and Borosk became another target. The attacking military included Moff Rulf Yage's forces and Sith agents. Rather than depicting a simple march toward inevitable Sith defeat, the narrative shows that Krayt's government still possessed significant military resources.

Rand Ko's final recorded transmission

Imperial Knight Master Rand Ko commanded Fel-loyalist defenders on Borosk. As the position collapsed, he contacted the emperor by hologram and explained that the battle was lost. Ko sought a decision about whether the troops were required to die defending the position or attempt withdrawal. Roan Fel ordered him to retreat and save the survivors. The episode is brief but illustrates an immediate practical consequence of imperial leadership: a ruler's order could either sacrifice or protect the people who served him.

The communication fails

A Sith attacker reached Ko while the exchange was underway. Contact ended before the withdrawal could be organized through the same conversation. The published passage does not provide a complete later biography or a confirmed full list of casualties. Accordingly, it is more precise to say Ko was attacked as the transmission failed than to manufacture an elaborate death scene. Borosk fell to Krayt's forces, an outcome that made Fel's weakening position visible to readers.

Legitimacy and the Imperial Knights

The Imperial Knights were a distinct Force tradition devoted to the Fel emperor, different from both the Sith and the Jedi. Ko's request reveals a conflict between military honor and preservation of lives. Fel's reply matters because duty to an office need not require pointless death. At the same time, Roan Fel's monarchical claim did not make his government equivalent to the democratic institutions of the former Galactic Alliance. The Legacy era shows multiple groups opposing Sith domination for different reasons.

Anthropological assessment

Borosk provides evidence of the changing meanings of discipline within a fractured empire. Soldiers and commanders wore related uniforms while obeying mutually hostile authorities. In such conditions, state loyalty becomes a contested social identity rather than a settled fact. The 137 and 138 ABY engagements also demonstrate why precise dating matters. Conflating them erases distinctive participants and makes the history of shifting loyalties appear less complicated than the comics describe.

Sources and visual record

The 138 ABY engagement appears in the 2011 Dark Horse comic Star Wars: Legacy—War #2 by John Ostrander and Jan Duursema. The authentic published issue cover is displayed above. The 137 ABY battle involving the 407th and 908th Stormtrooper Divisions has its own chronology page. No scene from one battle is passed off as evidence for the other.
