Legends chronology places the founding of Veeshas Tuwan in the frozen wastes of Arkania around 7000 BBY, a century before the Dark Jedi Exiles formed their later Sith Order on Korriban. The sprawling library-temple became one of the Sith Empire's great repositories of artifacts, writings, and experimental knowledge. At its height, the complex covered more than five square kilometers and descended through multiple underground levels.
A library-temple on Arkania
Veeshas Tuwan combined archives, ritual spaces, laboratories, and sealed chambers.
Its scale made it a major institutional repository rather than a private collection.
Preserving Sith knowledge
Artifacts and writings were gathered from across Sith-controlled space.
Sith Lords used hidden chambers for magical research and experimentation beyond Jedi or Republic oversight.
Why Arkania mattered
Arkania already possessed a reputation for genetic science and controversial experimentation.
A Sith archive on the world connected local scientific traditions with a wider dark-side intellectual network.
A repository that survives until the Great Hyperspace War
Veeshas Tuwan endured for roughly two thousand years.
Jedi later destroyed it during the counterinvasion that followed the Great Hyperspace War around 5000 BBY.
Anthropological assessment
Veeshas Tuwan demonstrates that knowledge institutions are political institutions. Archives determine which techniques, texts, and histories remain available to later generations.
Its later destruction by the Jedi also raises the inverse question: whether eliminating dangerous knowledge protects society or destroys historical evidence that might have been studied under different conditions.
c. 7000 BBY (contested chronology) · Legends · Source and continuity dossier
Veeshas Tuwan · the puzzle of a pre-Exile Sith archive
Documented account
Veeshas Tuwan was a Sith library-temple complex in Arkania's frozen wastes. The Legends timeline dates its creation to approximately 7000 BBY. Later records describe more than five square kilometers of halls, storage spaces, dark-side ritual chambers, and writings. Around 5000 BBY, following the Great Hyperspace War, Jedi attackers destroyed the archive during a Republic counteroffensive.
Anthropological interpretation
An imperial library is both an instrument of preservation and a tool of political authority. Whoever controls archives can control teaching, legitimize hierarchies, preserve ritual instructions and restrict access to potentially dangerous knowledge. Its placement on Arkania is also a reminder that old Sith networks could extend beyond the regions most closely associated with Korriban and Ziost.
Dates, continuity and historical caution
There is a continuity difficulty: c. 7000 BBY precedes the 6900 BBY arrival of the Dark Jedi Exiles who founded the later Sith Order. Legends also contains an earlier, indigenous Sith Empire. This article should not imply that Ajunta Pall personally founded the archive a century before arriving on Korriban. The date and empire attribution must be kept source-specific.
Test the evidence: Could Ajunta Pall's Exile-derived Sith Order have created the archive in 7000 BBY?
Correction and insight: Not under the same chronology; the Exiles arrived in 6900 BBY. Veeshas Tuwan's older founding belongs to the pre-Exile Sith record or a continuity tension.
