A historical 5v5 archive records Veers, Piett, Dark Trooper, Moff Gideon and Range Trooper against a Hera-led Captain Rex Phoenix defense. There is limited matching historic evidence, not a verified October 2026 win rate. Your actual Rex Omicron, Hera's Backup Plan and Datacron may change the outcome.

Compare the actual Phoenix five
By Imperial Dark Sector
NAMED HISTORIC EXAMPLE
Hera · Rex · Chopper · Zeb · Kanan
One recorded January 2026 5v5 entry matches this defense with Veers, Piett, Dark Trooper, Moff Gideon and Range Trooper on offense. The small sample is sufficient to discuss a possible tactical idea, but not to infer a reliable probability. Review the original opponent-by-opponent archive ↗.
DO NOT GENERALIZE
Rex GAC Omicron and Phoenix substitutions
Five Phoenix units at battle start can activate a specific 5v5 Rex Omicron. Sabine or Ezra in place of another member, higher relics, more speed, or Datacrons can change the matchup significantly. Hera's Territory Wars Omicron effects must not be mistaken for GAC effects.
02 / THE OFFENSIVE FIVE
Who does what?
01General VeersLeader · Speed / Turn Meter on buffs
These specific Imperial Troopers appear together in the historic Rex Phoenix entry. They are not interchangeable with the smaller Veers/Piett/Dark Trooper trio used for an unrelated 3v3 Mon Mothma matchup.

03 / ABILITY CONDITIONS
Four interactions to verify
VEERS · BUFF ENGINE
Imperial Assault Commander and Aggressive Tactician
Fully upgraded Veers grants Imperial Troopers 20 Speed and 10% Turn Meter when they gain a buff. After an enemy is defeated while Veers is active, his Zeta Unique grants Troopers Offense Up, 50% Turn Meter and 10% Protection recovery.
GIDEON · EXACT TURN METER EFFECT
Control the Situation
At maximum tier Moff Gideon calls Trooper assists and removes 100% Turn Meter from all units, including his allies. The ability then restores 25% Turn Meter to allies and gives role-based buffs. It is not an enemy-only reset.
PIETT AND RANGE · TURN ADVANTAGE
Emperor's Trap and Power In Numbers
Piett's Emperor's Trap grants 6% Offense and Potency per stack during consecutive Empire turns and out-of-turn attacks. Range Trooper gives a 50% chance to call another buffed Imperial Trooper for an assist while Range remains active.
CAPTAIN REX AND HERA · DEFENSIVE RISK
The Lost Commander and Backup Plan
In 5v5 GAC, Rex's installed Omicron has a special all-Phoenix clause: Ability Block or Daze is removed when inflicted and Damage Over Time lands on opponents. Hera's Backup Plan can revive its targeted ally, so a single apparent defeat may not start the Veers engine.
Battle-format rule:
Rex's special Grand Arena 5v5 all-Phoenix benefit is not the same as his 3v3 all-Clone-Trooper ability. Hera's Territory Wars-specific effects are a separate game-mode restriction.

Decision 1 / 4Historical 5v5 research briefing
01 / DEFENDER
DECISION 1 / FOUR
Confirm exactly which Phoenix team
The named archived record is Hera, Captain Rex, Chopper, Zeb and Kanan, not every combination of Phoenix five.
When conditions change: If Sabine, Ezra, a different Datacron or unfamiliar gear is present, the recorded example is not directly comparable.
02 / INITIATIVE
DECISION 2 / FOUR
Use Gideon's Turn Meter reset deliberately
Control the Situation removes Turn Meter from ALL units before giving the allied side some Turn Meter back. Its timing can decide who takes the next meaningful turn.
When conditions change: An unexpectedly fast Phoenix or enemy Turn Meter immunity may make this a bad opening.
03 / BUFF LOOP
DECISION 3 / FOUR
Protect Piett's Emperor's Trap sequence
Empire turns and attacks outside turns build Offense/Potency while Veers gains Turn Meter from buffs. Range helps create additional Trooper attacks.
When conditions change: Captain Rex's all-Phoenix GAC Omicron can neutralize Daze/Ability Block and punish you with Damage Over Time.
04 / PERMANENT KILL
DECISION 4 / FOUR
Choose an actual elimination
Dark Trooper's Basic hits once per remaining Squad stack. A real elimination turns on Veers's 50% Turn Meter bonus.
When conditions change: Hera's Backup Plan can revive the target. Do not mistake a temporary death for a finished enemy.
04 / SIX-STEP CONDITIONAL PLAN
Reason about the next action
This is a kit-based decision guide, not a guaranteed turn-by-turn sequence for all five-unit Phoenix teams.
01
Scout all five Phoenix units
The historic example features Hera, Captain Rex, Chopper, Zeb and Kanan. Sabine or Ezra in another roster, stronger relics, or a Datacron can change the opening enough to invalidate a copied strategy.
02
Confirm whether Rex's Omicron applies
The all-Phoenix 5v5 GAC clause is distinct from Rex's all-Clone 3v3 clause. If Rex's 5v5 Omicron is active, inflicting Daze or Ability Block can be ineffective and add Damage Over Time to your Troopers.
03
Compare real opening Speed
Calculate whether Gideon or Piett can act before Phoenix's control and assist engine begins. Do not use Gideon's Control the Situation without accounting for its Turn Meter reset on both sides.
04
Start the Veers/Piett/Ranger engine
Veers gains 10% Turn Meter per eligible buff on Troopers. Piett's temporary Trap stacks raise Offense and Potency. Range can chain extra assists, but only if the relevant Trooper remains alive and buffed.
05
Look for Backup Plan before the first finish
Hera can grant one other ally a non-preventable revive with Health and Turn Meter. Check its current recipient before spending Dark Trooper Squad stacks expecting an immediate permanent kill.
06
Reassess after every defeat or revival
When a Phoenix enemy truly falls, Veers's upgraded Unique supplies Offense Up and Turn Meter. If Hera's target comes back or Rex's abilities undo debuffs, change targets rather than following the original sequence.
After a backup-plan revival, status cleanse or failed control attempt, recheck the current target and turn order. Do not automatically repeat the historic route.
INTERACTIVE / FAILURE DIAGNOSIS
What interrupted the Imperial Troopers?
Select the first problem you observed. This tool does not access battle logs or your game account.
Rex keeps Phoenix going through Daze
In 5v5 GAC with five Phoenix at battle start, Rex's Omicron can immediately remove Ability Block and Daze and apply unresistable Damage Over Time to enemies. Check the exact active Omicron.
Gideon resets my own troops
Control the Situation removes all units' Turn Meter, not just the opponent's. Its ally restoration depends on ability tier. Reconsider the order of Gideon, Piett and Veers actions.
Hera revives the target I just finished
Backup Plan can return its target with Health and Turn Meter and cannot be prevented. It can deny an expected permanent elimination window and extend the battle.
Dark Trooper loses stacks before the first kill
Dark Trooper's Squad stacks are its burst damage engine. An attack that consumes stacks or lets a faster enemy suppress Dark Trooper may not trigger Veers's defeat bonuses.
The opposing fifth or Datacron changes everything
Historical tables include different Phoenix variants. A swap to Sabine/Ezra, unusual relic levels or a newer Datacron needs its own same-season evidence.
