In 7000 BBY, Trandosha joined the Galactic Republic. The event brought the Trandoshan homeworld into a wider political order but did not produce immediate deep integration. Thousands of years later, sources still described Trandosha as less institutionally integrated than many other member worlds.
Membership without complete integration
Formal accession connected Trandosha to Republic law and politics.
Yet local institutions and cultural practices remained strong, demonstrating that Republic membership was not equivalent to administrative uniformity.
A homeworld beside Kashyyyk
Trandosha shared a star system with the Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk.
That proximity later became politically important as conflict, slaving, and disputes over representation intensified.
A long uneasy relationship with the Republic
By later Old Republic eras, Trandoshan political interests could diverge sharply from those of neighboring Wookiees and from central Republic policy.
Ancient accession did not eliminate later conflict.
Anthropological assessment
Trandosha demonstrates the difference between incorporation and assimilation. A world can belong to a federal political system for millennia while preserving institutions and values that remain distinct from dominant norms.
The case also warns against reading later Trandoshan-Wookiee conflict backward as the sole meaning of Trandoshan identity in 7000 BBY.

Trandosha's membership was not immediate full integration
Evidence and chronology
The Legends date for Trandosha's admission to the Galactic Republic is approximately 7000 BBY. Later accounts note that its political and social integration with Republic institutions remained incomplete for millennia. The planet shared a star system with Kashyyyk, but the later Trandoshan–Wookiee slave-trade conflict associated with Czerka belonged to a different, much later context.
Anthropological interpretation
Formal membership alone cannot tell us how a population understands sovereignty, external law or rival settlements. Trandoshan social organization and relationships to offworld governments were shaped over a long period. Describing their later actions as an inevitable consequence of species identity would erase changes in institutions, economics and historical choices.
What the sources do not establish
A precise 7000 BBY Senate accession ceremony and the identities of its delegates are not preserved. The later Czerka slave-trade arrangement should not be described as if it began in the year of Trandosha's Republic admission.
Test the record: Did joining the Republic immediately cause the Czerka–Wookiee conflict?
Explanation: No. The Czerka relationship is documented millennia later, and should not be backdated.
