Background and family history
Elara Dorne left the Sith Empire after witnessing abuse and came to serve the Galactic Republic. Her official Holonet biography emphasizes rigorous medical training and a strong preference for lawful, disciplined conduct. That background makes her particularly interesting within Havoc Squad: unlike some Republic citizens who were taught to despise the Empire from childhood, Elara has firsthand knowledge of Imperial institutions and deliberately rejects their treatment of vulnerable people. Her expertise is a professional identity that survives the change in political allegiance.

Role in the Origin Story
The Trooper meets Elara during the rebuilding of Havoc Squad, whose recent defection scandal makes military trust a sensitive subject. The player can encounter suspicion of Elara precisely because her former service is recorded in official personnel files. Yet effective medical care and the ethics of treating enemies cannot be reduced to citizenship. Elara's relationship with commanding officers creates opportunities to compare obedience, professionalism and personal judgment.

Gameplay after joining the crew
Elara Dorne is one of the five original story companions of the Republic Trooper Origin Story. Recruitment occurs through that story's mission progression, with access to conversations and any romance branches dependent on player decisions and version-specific rules. Old Holonet statistics, weapon restrictions, companion gifts and crafting bonuses refer to earlier SWTOR systems. Check current patch notes or the in-game companion window for combat roles and access, particularly when playing the shared Alliance expansions.

Background and cultural interpretation
The dossier centers on what a state means by loyalty. A former Imperial might demonstrate fidelity to Republic norms more consistently than someone born under them, while still facing bureaucratic barriers. Elara also distinguishes impartial medical duty from institutional pressure to favor one side of a conflict. Her adherence to rules deserves analysis, not automatic approval: military procedures can protect people, but sometimes fail those they are supposed to serve.
