The Second Battle of Korriban

Empress Teta's fleet catches Naga Sadow immediately after his victory over Ludo Kressh and destroys the remaining Sith warships, ending the Great Hyperspace War.

Moments after Naga Sadow defeated Ludo Kressh above Korriban, Empress Teta's pursuing fleet arrived. Sadow's forces were already exhausted by the failed invasion and internal battle. Teta's ships overwhelmed the Sith fleet. Shar Dakhan eventually took command of remaining defenders and ordered suicidal attacks while Sadow escaped aboard the Corsair.

The Republic takes the war into Sith space

Teta's fleet had crossed through the newly discovered route linking the Republic and Sith Empire.

The strategic initiative had fully reversed from Sadow's original invasion.

The Sith fleet collapses

Sadow had lost ships at Primus Goluud and in the fight with Kressh.

The arrival of a fresh pursuing force left little capacity for organized resistance.

Sadow abandons the battlefield

The Dark Lord fled rather than surrender.

His escape preserved a fragment of Sith leadership even as the old Empire ceased to function as a major galactic power.

Anthropological assessment

The second Korriban battle shows how military defeat can become state collapse when political and naval institutions fail at the same time.

The battle also shifted the meaning of Korriban from a protected sacred center to a battlefield exposed to outside power.

The pursuit that ends the central campaign

  1. Teta reaches Sith territory through routes exposed by first contact and intelligence obtained from Gav Daragon.

  2. Sadow's fleet, already damaged by the failed invasion and fighting Kressh, cannot restore a coordinated defense.

  3. Sadow escapes while Shar Dakhan directs desperate resistance. The defeat of a government does not mean every member of its society disappears.

Does this engagement mean all Sith were exterminated?

No. Sadow and other traditions survive in Legends. The result concerns an organized military campaign, not a people becoming extinct.

Second Korriban: a Republic pursuit meets a weakened Sith state

The Republic-backed forces of Empress Teta arrived over Korriban just after Sadow's troops had fought an internal battle. This timing explains part of the fleet's vulnerability without implying that the Republic had engineered the original Sith succession conflict. The Sith command system was fragmented, its external invasion had failed, and remaining defenders could not reverse the war. Sadow fled rather than remain to direct a unified defense. The entry must also remain distinct from the later 4999 BBY counterinvasion: a decisive space battle around a homeworld is not the same as the broader occupation of Sith territory and the destruction of institutional sites.

Evidence boundary: historical fact versus interpretive analysis

This is a Legends fictional-history dossier. Characters, encounters and broad outcomes follow Tales of the Jedi and licensed secondary chronology. Assessments of power, institutions, consent and political legitimacy are IDS interpretations. Page-specific casualty counts, direct speeches and scientifically exact mechanisms should not be inferred from a general reference summary or comic cover.

What the original history supports

Some Great Hyperspace War chronologies separate successive confrontations at Korriban. Those should not be consolidated with the unrelated, later Republic counterinvasion merely because all occurred near the same year.

Interpretation and evidence limit

The diagram tracks the narrative transition from a failed invasion to Sith civil conflict and exile. Precise battle subdivisions must be reviewed against the printed comic and later Atlas chronology.

Invasion fails, but a ruler survives

Teta's ships arrived with the intelligence obtained from Gav Daragon, catching Sadow after the fighting with Kressh. The fleet's diminished condition and broken political leadership mattered as much as the Republic's immediate firepower. This stage changes the direction of the Great Hyperspace War: a Sith invasion of the Republic has become a Republic attack on the Sith war fleet in its own region.

In the original comic, Sadow refused surrender and arranged for the Sith vessels under his command to obstruct pursuit while he escaped. The order that Massassi kill Sith officers commanding ships should be described as a desperate coercive act rather than a voluntary collective decision to sacrifice themselves. Secondary retellings also name Shar Dakhan in the later defense. They should not be used to invent an orderly transfer of command or an exact list of survivors when the primary panels have not been fully collated.

Teta's victory ended the principal invasion campaign, but Sadow's flight prevented the capture of its chief architect. This distinction is important when discussing whether the Sith Empire ended at one battlefield. Later Legends stories trace the consequences of the Republic's counterinvasion and the survival of Sith traditions beyond the war's last large engagements.

Historical judgment: Does the Republic victory at Korriban mean Sadow died there?

Correction and evidence: No. Sadow escaped the battle aboard the Corsair and continued to Denarii Nova before hiding on Yavin 4.
