How to scout Geonosian Brood Alpha

The Geonosian defense uses a summoned Brute to absorb attention and Hive Mind to turn one Geonosian action into a swarm of assists. The important question is not just how hard your attacker can hit; it is whether you can disrupt the shared protection and assist loop before being overwhelmed.

01 / IDENTIFY THE COMPLETE DEFENSE

What is actually in front of you?

Geonosian Brood Alpha, Geonosian Soldier, Geonosian Spy, Sun Fac and Poggle the Lesser. Geonosian Brute is a summon, not one of the five roster slots.

Do not name a counter from the leader portrait alone. Record every active character and its upgrades. A different fifth unit can add revives, Taunt, dispels or starting Turn Meter; a Datacron may change which unit can be targeted or defeated on the first turn. The difference matters more than a colorful ranking or raw Galactic Power total.

Recorded battles are evidence, not instructions.

Season 84's public Geonosian Brood Alpha counter page contains real 5v5 battle records, but the lineup-specific results depend on attacker selection, abilities and battle conditions. Do not treat a high win rate on one short sample as a guarantee. SWGOH.GG separates Season 84's 5v5 battles from Season 83's 3v3 matches. Counts and rates are changing, and this editorial guide does not copy a live percentage or certify a particular attacking squad.

02 / READ THE DEFENDER'S KIT

Four mechanisms that change the matchup

EVIDENCE 01

Queen's Will and Hive Mind

While Geonosian Brood Alpha remains active, Geonosian allies receive Hive Mind, which cannot be dispelled or prevented. Their attacks can trigger group assists, and the team equalizes Health and Protection when enemies use abilities. The fully upgraded Unique summons a Geonosian Brute at battle start.

EVIDENCE 02

Brute's Taunt and summon slot

The Brute can Taunt and counterattack. It occupies a summon slot and its stats scale from Brood Alpha. It cannot be revived if defeated, but Conscription can summon it again when the ally slot is available. A squad that cannot reach key enemies needs a clear answer to the Taunt sequence.

EVIDENCE 03

Conscription is recovery

Brood Alpha's Conscription dispels debuffs from Geonosian allies, recovers their Health and Protection and gives Turn Meter. If Brute is already present, Conscription empowers it rather than creating an additional Brute. Check cooldown timing before applying long-lived control.

EVIDENCE 04

Spy and Sun Fac change target priority

Geonosian Spy can threaten a vulnerable target with burst damage, while Sun Fac contributes Taunt and buff interaction. If either is present, read the current unit kit and avoid assuming a one-threat defender. Brood Alpha's leadership is the engine, but finishing target order depends on your attacker.

Several effects above come from final Zeta, Omega or Omicron upgrades. Check your opponent's available ability tiers whenever possible. If a mechanic requires a faction or a particular Leader tag, confirm the displayed squad actually qualifies before building your opening plan around that condition.

03 / PRACTICAL BATTLE SCOUTING

Six decisions before and during your attack

  1. 01

    Inspect the five visible Geonosians

Record the exact roster and whether the sixth battle unit is the summoned Brute. Check if Brood Alpha's Zetas and current Datacron alter the defense, and identify who can initiate a decisive burst.

  2. 02

Do not confuse Brute with a permanent slot

Find out how your offensive team handles Taunt: buff dispel, Taunt ignore, AoE or a justified alternate ability sequence. Do not waste a limited finishing move on a summoned unit unless the mechanic demands it.

  3. 03

    Reduce the engine's value

Consider whether Brood Alpha's Hive Mind uptime or Conscription recovery prevents a quick elimination. A control effect that is resisted or immediately cleansed may have little value.

  4. 04

Keep an answer for burst damage

Read the enemy Spy's status and the other Geonosians' assists. If your key attacker can be eliminated before its next turn, prioritize protection or a safer offensive sequence.

  5. 05

    Confirm the elimination condition

A useful plan usually needs to remove enough active Geonosian units to interrupt the loop, but do not name a universal first target. Actual Taunts, damage, and unit immunity determine what you can reach.

  6. 06

    After the first defeat

Watch whether Brood Alpha's remaining cooldowns and Hive Mind mechanics change. Do not assume assists disappear after Brute is defeated if Brood Alpha remains active.

These are conditional instructions, not a claim of firsthand playtesting or a universal winning ability rotation. If a required mechanic is missing from the defense, adapt the plan. An opponent can react through counters, revives, dispels, Taunt or additional turns even if the first action succeeds.

INTERACTIVE / FAILURE ANALYSIS

What made the attempt go wrong?

Select the outcome closest to your battle. The explanation points to the first mechanic to verify, not a claim that a single unit caused the loss. Check ability levels, timing, opponent Datacrons and the complete defense before changing expensive gear.

I cannot attack Brood Alpha

Check Brute and Sun Fac Taunts and whether your attacker can dispel, ignore or legally bypass them. Do not infer that the game is bugged if an enemy tank is protecting the leader.
