Lord Scourge provides a distinctive perspective on sovereignty, longevity and shifting allegiance within the Jedi Knight Origin Story. This dossier distinguishes published Legends background from player-dependent events, then examines the social institutions that give the character's actions their meaning.

How to recruit Lord Scourge
Scourge's recruitment is tied to a major Emperor confrontation; avoid skipping ahead for him.

The original story recruitment is different from later Alliance reunions, some of which depend on expansion decisions. If you are already in a later expansion, see the current companion-availability guidance below.

Background and family history
Lord Scourge served the Sith Emperor for centuries, with his unnaturally extended life connecting him to political upheavals long before the launch-era Republic–Empire war. The Holonet explicitly links his life to the Emperor's Wrath title and to a fatalistic approach to power. Longevity is more than an extraordinary biological condition here: it grants access to institutional memory and creates a relationship to authority that shorter-lived officers cannot reproduce.

Role in the Origin Story
The Jedi Knight encounters Scourge during the campaign against the Emperor. His willingness to break from established Sith loyalties complicates any interpretation that allegiance is a fixed feature of Force identity. Scourge is neither converted into a conventional Republic soldier nor presented as a morally uncomplicated Jedi. His information helps identify threats that the established Jedi apparatus could not adequately investigate; the crew must nevertheless judge why a former enforcer would act against his old sovereign.

Gameplay after joining the crew
Lord Scourge belongs to the original Jedi Knight crew. Follow that Origin Story's missions and companion conversations for the original recruitment context; a companion's presence in the broader Alliance roster or on another character's mission does not automatically establish the same recruitment conditions. The official Holonet profile is a source for launch-era biography, not a current guide to influence gifts, optimal gear, combat statistics, romance eligibility, or character unlocks. Check present-day in-game instructions and published patch notes for those systems.

Background and cultural interpretation
The political question is how personal service becomes embedded in institutions. Wrath denotes a delegated capacity to punish enemies on behalf of a distant ruler, yet that authority depends on a relationship few outsiders can verify. Scourge shows how defection can be driven by a different strategic judgment rather than sudden adoption of the opponent's ethics. An analytical account should separate useful testimony, personal motives and accountability for earlier violence.
