01 · Companion research

Background and family history

Mako grows up in a precarious environment on Nar Shaddaa, without a secure family record. The Holonet describes her early facility with slicing and an escape from adults attempting to exploit her. She later becomes involved in criminal technology networks. The hunter Braden offers employment and membership in a crew, giving her both professional development and a social home.

02 · Companion research

Role in the Origin Story

Braden's death at the beginning of the Bounty Hunter Origin Story transforms the team's structure. Mako carries practical knowledge of bounty records and underworld connections, helping the player navigate the Great Hunt. Her view of professional honor is shaped by experiences of vulnerability and by the relationships through which a precarious young worker obtained protection.

03 · Companion research

Gameplay after joining the crew

Mako accompanies the Bounty Hunter from the early class storyline and supports story dialogue about the Great Hunt. Old Holonet bonuses to Slicing and Cybertech are historical artifacts of the 2011 system, not a reliable claim about the strongest crew-skill setup in 2026.

04 · Companion research

Background and cultural interpretation

Mako is useful for exploring how expertise develops outside accredited institutions. Slicing is presented not simply as a game power but as a skill acquired through survival, exchange and practical work. Her relationship with Braden's crew resembles chosen kinship, where members sustain one another without biological ties. The bounty business relies on trusted information brokers as much as it relies on weapons.
