Gault Rennow provides a distinctive window into confidence tricks, reputation and negotiated trust across the Bounty Hunter Origin Story. The file treats the Holonet account as published Legends background and distinguishes player-driven outcomes from IDS interpretation.

How to recruit Gault Rennow
A Great Hunt contract on Tatooine leads to the unusual decision to keep Gault around.

Background and family history
Gault Rennow is a practiced con artist who has survived by evading bounty hunters, manipulating targets and creating convincing appearances. The official Holonet describes a talent for self-presentation rather than a simple commitment to any government or code of professional honor. His status as a Devaronian is one factual aspect of his identity, but his fraudulent business strategies are learned practices rather than traits shared by an entire species. His reputation often depends on persuading other people that an arrangement is safer or more profitable than it actually is.

Role in the Origin Story
The Bounty Hunter's pursuit of a target leads to contact with Gault during the Great Hunt. The ensuing relationship is unusual because a contractor whose livelihood depends upon completing bounties acquires a companion whose expertise lies in preventing contracts from being fulfilled. The story invites choices about deception, pragmatism and the usefulness of informants who have profited from broken trust. Gault's later participation reflects the particular playthrough rather than a universal ethical transformation.

Gameplay after joining the crew
Gault Rennow belongs to the original Bounty Hunter companion roster. Follow this class's story missions to establish the first recruitment and crew relationship, then consult the game's later Alliance missions separately if exploring post-launch encounters. The archived Holonet gift, stat and crafting figures reflect retired or heavily revised systems, so combat builds and influence decisions should be checked using current in-game information. Romance and narrative consequences can depend on the player's choices.

Background and cultural interpretation
Gault is a useful example for the anthropology of markets and reputation. Trust can be simulated by documents, names, clothing, a business address or a plausible personal story. A fraudster exploits those ordinary conventions while also depending upon them for access to victims. Analysis should separate the legality of his actions from the broader question of why participants in a market accept appearances as evidence of reliability.
