How to jump into this adventure
Where to pick up the story
Play this after Knights of the Fallen Empire's chapters. The Eternal Throne continuation has nine main chapters and follows the Alliance's struggle with Zakuul's rulers. Start through your character's current story mission rather than relying on old launch menu screenshots.
The main campaign route
Expect cinematic decisions, companions and a campaign moving toward the Eternal Throne. The launch release supported multiple chapter difficulty modes. Those challenge settings are separate from the story itself; consult the current chapter interface for the difficulty and replay options available to your character.
Useful before you play
Best when played after Fallen Empire because relationships and choices carry narrative context. Optional high-difficulty replays should not be mistaken for mandatory story progression. Avoid expansion spoilers until you finish the original chapters.
For the exact next mission on your character, open the Eras Window introduced in Game Update 7.7. Official Eras Window and Mission Log details · Official expansion information. Current UI, availability, and chapter requirements can differ from the original expansion launches.

Play this expansion in order
Before you begin
Finish all 16 Fallen Empire chapters before Eternal Throne. The opening assumes knowledge of the Alliance, Zakuul, Arcann and Vaylin.
- Nine Eternal Throne chapters
Play the nine-chapter campaign in order and finish its final confrontation before moving into the post-Zakuul story.
- The War for Iokath
After Eternal Throne, continue the Iokath planetary story as a separate follow-up, not an Eternal Throne chapter.
- The traitor storyline
Play Crisis on Umbara, A Traitor Among the Chiss on Copero, and The Nathema Conspiracy in that order, using the main story missions.
- Jedi Under Siege
After Nathema, begin Ossus. This bridges the Alliance era to the renewed Republic–Imperial war and Onslaught.
What comes after
Continue to Onslaught after the Ossus storyline. The short intervening missions and faction decisions provide context for the new war.
What is optional, not part of the required storyline?
Uprisings, Operations, and harder chapter replays are optional group or challenge content; do not confuse them with the nine required cinematic chapters.
Story order checked against the 2026 solo story guide and publisher story and update information. Check the Eras Window for the next mission on your character.
Nine chapters extend the Outlander's conflict with Arcann, Vaylin and Valkorion toward the question of who can control the Eternal Throne, its fleet and the conquered territories.
01 · Expansion analysis
Historical starting point
The Alliance has become a serious contender for power but is not a conventional hereditary state. The Eternal Empire's ruling family divides over authority, obligation and force. Vaylin's rise to power demonstrates the instability of a dynasty in which familial conflict is inseparable from galaxy-scale command.
02 · Expansion analysis
Campaign story and faction perspectives
The official chapter listing runs from Wrath and Ruin to The Eternal Throne. Across these missions the player confronts the rulers of Zakuul and the resources that sustain imperial power. The story ends with a struggle over the Eternal Throne and Valkorion's attempt to dominate the protagonist. Specific outcomes for allies and other characters can change with decisions.
03 · Expansion analysis
How to play and how rules changed
Knights of the Eternal Throne consists of nine main chapters. The publisher also documented Story, Veteran and Master chapter modes at launch. Difficulty options and accessibility may evolve, so players should inspect current mission and story UI rather than assume all launch menus or rewards are unchanged.
04 · Expansion analysis
What the expansion adds to Legends society
The Eternal Fleet is central to imperial rule because it can enforce power at a distance and weaken the requirement to negotiate with planetary populations. But controlling an army does not automatically produce consent or legitimate governance. The story raises the problem of what it means to replace one sovereign while inheriting the very instruments that made domination possible.
05 · Expansion analysis
Anthropological assessment
Dynastic politics offer a way to study how personal relationships become institutional. The story is about succession and coerced loyalty, but it also exposes the vulnerability of a state whose governing mechanisms depend heavily on one ruling household and an extraordinary weapons system.
