How to jump into this adventure
Where you begin
Start on Tython as a Jedi researcher and initiate. Complete the early class missions there, then follow the Republic story route to Coruscant and onward. Qyzen Fess is part of your original five-companion crew, introduced through this class's own story.
What you actually play
The early adventure investigates disturbances affecting the Jedi, then shifts into wider Republic diplomacy and the Rift Alliance. Expect more negotiation, alliances and Force mysteries than a straightforward military campaign. The prologue leads into three class chapters with important spoilers.
Worth knowing
Choose this for mysteries, Jedi history and building relationships with other cultures. The older Sage and Shadow labels describe traditional combat associations; current eligible Combat Styles are selected independently of this narrative. Use the game's Eras Window if you return after a long break.
For the exact next mission on your character, open the Eras Window introduced in Game Update 7.7. Official Eras Window and Mission Log details · Official story missions. Current UI, availability, and chapter requirements can differ from the original expansion launches.
01 · Position within the galaxy
The story and the institutions it reveals
The Consular story approaches the Republic through healing, negotiation, intelligence, and political coalition-building. Its principal conflicts concern the protection of a vulnerable institution and the relationships that keep an alliance together. It provides a counterweight to histories that identify Jedi achievement only with armed confrontation.
Under Master Yuon Par on Tython, the new Padawan confronts the legacy of Rajivari and learns how Jedi archives preserve accounts of internal conflict. Even before meeting rival governments, the player encounters a religious institution that must interpret and sometimes revise its own history.
The protagonist enters the conflict in the position of Scholar, healer, diplomat and coalition organizer. Beginning on Tython, this narrative unfolds alongside the same Republic–Sith struggle explored by the other seven Origin Stories. A single storyline does not give a complete survey of the galaxy. Its conflicts and choices reveal the assumptions and restrictions facing this particular character, including who issues orders, controls travel, assigns rank, provides knowledge, and defines a mission's success.
02 · Main class narrative
Prologue and the three original chapters
The prologue begins on Tython. Follow your purple Origin Story missions, then read the three chapter sections below for story direction, important characters and the complete recap. Your current Mission Log and Eras Window, rather than a historical mission coordinate, provide the precise next objective.
I · The Plague of Lord Vivicar
What you will play
Chapter I — The mysterious Jedi affliction drives the Consular's first major investigation. Class missions matter more than generic planetary errands; the story repeatedly asks you to help Jedi Masters while learning what connects their condition.
Story recap
A Force-related affliction endangers prominent Jedi including Yuon Par. The Consular searches for a shielding technique and tracks the crisis to Vivicar and the lingering influence of Terrak Morrhage.
World and character context
An order that relies on a small number of specialists for treatment faces a problem of knowledge concentration. Saving senior members is not just an individual medical objective; it changes the capacity of the whole institution to continue functioning.
II · The Rift Alliance
What you will play
Chapter II — The Consular's assignments become a diplomatic coalition-building effort involving the Rift Alliance. Your team expands with allies whose backgrounds affect the political negotiations, so speak with them between planets.
Story recap
The Republic relies on the Consular to restore relations with worlds considering withdrawal. Diplomacy, military support, and resource commitments link the governments of the Rift Alliance to a threatened federal order.
World and character context
Alliance maintenance is labor, not simply a dialogue victory. The story shows the difference between nominal membership in a republic and the daily material support required for political solidarity.
III · Children of the Emperor
What you will play
Chapter III — The Children of the Emperor take center stage. Avoid reading identity reveals ahead of the class missions; return to the story log whenever optional planet chains obscure the main lead.
Story recap
Imperial agents infiltrate institutions through a program that may conceal compromised identities even from the operatives themselves. The Consular leads partners toward the revelation of the First Son amid the war on Corellia.
World and character context
The Children of the Emperor plot makes knowledge, recognition and personal agency central to political security. It also warns against equating suspicion with evidence, since an innocent person's identity cannot be inferred simply from group affiliation.
03 · Recruit your crew
Where your five original companions join
As you progress the purple Jedi Consular storyline, the crew expands. The five linked recruitment cards below show where each companion joins the original adventure and what to follow next. These are not Alliance Alerts or modern combat-build rankings.
Since Game Update 4.0, original class companion conversations unlock through class story progress, not an affection threshold. Companions can fill healing, damage and tank roles, with their gear serving a cosmetic purpose. Speak with them aboard your ship between planets.
Returning after an expansion? Since Game Update 7.9 (June 2026), Companions & Contacts has an Ineligible for Story tab. It lets you use narratively unavailable companions in gameplay without changing their story status. The older Companion Locator Terminal is disabled. Official 7.9 companion changes

Explore Nadia Grell beyond combat
Nadia Grell's emergence as a Force-sensitive person connects local kinship, planetary government and the Jedi's powerful teaching institution. Her story matters because her family did not originally understand her unusual abilities through the Jedi Order's categories.
04 · Practical gameplay orientation
How to play this story without confusing it with a Combat Style
Choose this story for Jedi history, Force healing, a diplomatic political plot and an unusually wide range of noncombatant institutional encounters. The originally associated Sage and Shadow archetypes remain relevant as thematic traditions, not fixed requirements for the narrative.
Starting world: Tython. Class-story ship: Defender-class light corvette. Original Advanced Class associations: Sage and Shadow. Those associations describe the game's historical class presentation, not exclusive 2026 fighting options.

As of the 7.0 system, you choose the narrative Origin Story and your Combat Style as distinct character-creation decisions. Force-based stories select from eligible Force styles and tech-based stories from eligible Tech styles. Further eligibility, switching and additional styles depend on game unlocks, character status and current rules. For precise combat mechanics, compare the official 7.0 rules with the newest published patch notes; avoid using pre-7.0 ability lists as current build advice.
For a first playthrough, preserve your original class missions and speak with companions between major planets. Story decisions may change dialogue and relationships, while later shared expansions can converge on the same broader galactic events. Use the Eras Window to find the next main mission when returning after a long break.
05 · IDS anthropology dossier
Jedi Consular: social meaning of the playable career
The Consular's social world crosses from a monastery-like order into senatorial government, military coalitions, and local sovereignty. It is especially productive for studying diplomatic ritual, political consent and the unequal distribution of expertise. The fictional choices provide case studies in institutional responsibility, not a substitute for real-world ethnographic fieldwork.
Each Origin Story establishes a particular social location rather than an unbiased historical perspective. The character's access to knowledge, legitimacy, patronage and mobility depends on institutional context. For this class, the most productive themes are healing and ritual, interplanetary diplomacy, political coalition. These themes are analytical questions applied to fictional material. They should not be mistaken for official authorial explanations, nor should outcomes chosen by one player be presented as the only possible version of the narrative.
An ethnographic analogy requires restraint. The game designs situations in which missions, dialogue menus and reward structures shape action. It cannot supply observations of real communities or evidence that a political theory is true. Its educational value lies in asking how a player learns to act within a social institution, what actions the mechanics reward, and whose experiences remain outside the story's field of view.
