How to jump into this adventure
Where you begin
Your path begins on Korriban as a Sith acolyte of low status. Follow the Academy trials and tomb-related class missions; later early story missions take you to Dromund Kaas. Khem Val becomes a defining original Inquisitor companion.
What you actually play
You investigate ancient Sith remains, search for lost power and navigate personal rivals while climbing Imperial institutions. Archaeological sites and Force rituals are embedded in real story missions; you do not need a separate fan-made atlas to experience them.
Worth knowing
Ideal for players who like occult Sith lore and social climbing. The original Sorcerer/Assassin association is not a restriction on the present-day Origin Story. Follow purple class missions and check in with your companions after major revelations.
For the exact next mission on your character, open the Eras Window introduced in Game Update 7.7. Official Eras Window and Mission Log details · Official story missions. Current UI, availability, and chapter requirements can differ from the original expansion launches.
01 · Position within the galaxy
The story and the institutions it reveals
No SWTOR Origin Story examines the relationship between social stratification and the use of ancient knowledge as closely as the Sith Inquisitor. The protagonist enters Korriban as an enslaved outsider and faces a hierarchy that treats some ancestries as more legitimate than others. Archaeological objects, ancestral claims and dangerous rituals become resources for challenging that hierarchy.
Overseer Harkun distrusts the protagonist's social background, but the acolyte survives the Sith trials and is apprenticed to Lord Zash. The recovered Dashade Khem Val, the tombs on Korriban and later investigations of Tulak Hord's artifacts connect early gameplay to debates about who owns religious and historical knowledge.
The protagonist enters the conflict in the position of Former slave, occult investigator and political rival. Beginning on Korriban, this narrative unfolds alongside the same Republic–Sith struggle explored by the other seven Origin Stories. A single storyline does not give a complete survey of the galaxy. Its conflicts and choices reveal the assumptions and restrictions facing this particular character, including who issues orders, controls travel, assigns rank, provides knowledge, and defines a mission's success.
02 · Main class narrative
Prologue and the three original chapters
The prologue begins on Korriban. Follow your purple Origin Story missions, then read the three chapter sections below for story direction, important characters and the complete recap. Your current Mission Log and Eras Window, rather than a historical mission coordinate, provide the precise next objective.
I · Scion of Kallig
What you will play
Chapter I — Search Sith tombs and relic sites to uncover the Kallig legacy while facing rival apprentices. These archaeological episodes are real missions inside the Inquisitor story; follow the main class route.
Story recap
The Inquisitor seeks artifacts of Tulak Hord for Zash and discovers the ancestral spirit of Aloysius Kallig. Zash's ritual is eventually exposed as an attempt to take a new body.
World and character context
The episode makes ancestry into a contested political document. A claim to descent can provide symbolic legitimacy, while a powerful patron may treat a subordinate's body as an expendable resource.
II · Spirits of the Past
What you will play
Chapter II — Ancient Sith spirits become essential to surviving higher-level political enemies. Continue class assignments through the actual planets the game directs you toward rather than using fan-generated excavation maps.
Story recap
Darth Thanaton seeks to destroy the rising Inquisitor, who responds by binding Force spirits and collecting followers. Ritual power temporarily compensates for weak standing in the established aristocracy.
World and character context
Collecting forbidden knowledge resembles the creation of an alternative power base: it gives the challenger tools that senior rivals cannot easily regulate. Yet dependence on unwilling spirits introduces new forms of domination.
III · Thanaton's Last Stand
What you will play
Chapter III — The conflict with Darth Thanaton reaches a political and ritual conclusion. Xalek's recruitment occurs late, so do not assume a new Inquisitor can obtain every companion early.
Story recap
Unable to control the accumulated spirits, the Inquisitor seeks treatment and stages a final confrontation through the Kaggath with Darth Thanaton, ultimately entering the Dark Council.
World and character context
The story finishes with institutional incorporation, not the abolition of Sith hierarchy. A once-excluded individual can reach its summit while the underlying structure continues to allocate power unequally.
03 · Recruit your crew
Where your five original companions join
As you progress the purple Sith Inquisitor storyline, the crew expands. The five linked recruitment cards below show where each companion joins the original adventure and what to follow next. These are not Alliance Alerts or modern combat-build rankings.
Since Game Update 4.0, original class companion conversations unlock through class story progress, not an affection threshold. Companions can fill healing, damage and tank roles, with their gear serving a cosmetic purpose. Speak with them aboard your ship between planets.
Returning after an expansion? Since Game Update 7.9 (June 2026), Companions & Contacts has an Ineligible for Story tab. It lets you use narratively unavailable companions in gameplay without changing their story status. The older Companion Locator Terminal is disabled. Official 7.9 companion changes

Explore Khem Val beyond combat
Khem Val is a surviving link to a much older Sith world. His appearance connects the Sith Inquisitor's ambitions to Tulak Hord, ancient tombs and questions about whether a long-serving guardian is a political subject or someone else's property.

How to play this story without confusing it with a Combat Style
Choose this story for Sith tombs, ancient Force rituals, political rivalry, contested ancestry and an especially clear arc of social mobility under coercive institutions. Sorcerer and Assassin are historical Combat Style associations, not exclusive narrative requirements.
Starting world: Korriban. Class-story ship: Fury-class interceptor. Original Advanced Class associations: Sorcerer and Assassin. Those associations describe the game's historical class presentation, not exclusive 2026 fighting options.

As of the 7.0 system, you choose the narrative Origin Story and your Combat Style as distinct character-creation decisions. Force-based stories select from eligible Force styles and tech-based stories from eligible Tech styles. Further eligibility, switching and additional styles depend on game unlocks, character status and current rules. For precise combat mechanics, compare the official 7.0 rules with the newest published patch notes; avoid using pre-7.0 ability lists as current build advice.
For a first playthrough, preserve your original class missions and speak with companions between major planets. Story decisions may change dialogue and relationships, while later shared expansions can converge on the same broader galactic events. Use the Eras Window to find the next main mission when returning after a long break.

Sith Inquisitor: social meaning of the playable career
Sith Inquisitor is an unusually rich case study for archaeology, class, slavery and the political appropriation of antiquity. It explores how archives, tombs, and claims of ancestry can grant power, but warns that the narrative's final appointment to a governing elite cannot be mistaken for emancipation of the wider enslaved population.
Each Origin Story establishes a particular social location rather than an unbiased historical perspective. The character's access to knowledge, legitimacy, patronage and mobility depends on institutional context. For this class, the most productive themes are slavery and hierarchy, Sith archaeology, ritual knowledge. These themes are analytical questions applied to fictional material. They should not be mistaken for official authorial explanations, nor should outcomes chosen by one player be presented as the only possible version of the narrative.
An ethnographic analogy requires restraint. The game designs situations in which missions, dialogue menus and reward structures shape action. It cannot supply observations of real communities or evidence that a political theory is true. Its educational value lies in asking how a player learns to act within a social institution, what actions the mechanics reward, and whose experiences remain outside the story's field of view.
