Gods from the Machine (Iokath): Imperial Operation Walkthrough

Gods from the Machine has five increasingly mechanical boss encounters: Tyth, Aivela and Esne, Nahut, Scyva and Izax. It starts from Iokath's Operation Control Center and uses a central tram between encounter areas. Learn the rage stacks, WHITE/RED polarity, Candle reveal, Extinction Protocol and Izax drone-laser puzzle before joining a group.

How to get to the Imperial Operation entrance

Complete/visit IOKATH → IMPERIAL IOKATH BASE (optional 'Facing the Machines of War') → IOKATH OPERATION CONTROL CENTER / OPERATION ENTRANCE → TRAM → TYTH.

Available modes: Story, Veteran and Master modes exist. Live level-80 Operation with subscriber access. Completing Iokath story or being summoned to Iokath is the standard route to the entrance; faction choice on Iokath can affect Imperial-group instance compatibility.

  1. 01

Check that this is an OPTIONAL Operation branch

After the Iokath Fractured Alliances story, the SCIONS' FACING THE MACHINES OF WAR quest can point to an Operation. It is optional and is NOT the required route to Crisis on Umbara, Copero or Nathema.

  2. 02

    Go to IOKATH

For reliable physical access, complete the relevant IOKATH story route or have a group member summon you there when allowed. The documented Operation entrance is on Iokath, not an instance portal on an ordinary Fleet supplies deck.

  3. 03

Find the IMPERIAL IOKATH mission board

If pursuing the story wrapper, find the IOKATH MISSION BOARD near the Imperial base (quest database Imperial coordinates approximately X 873, Y -448), then speak to the SCIONS in the Alliance Base during Facing the Machines of War.

  4. 04

    Reach OPERATION CONTROL CENTER

Follow the Iokath map to the GODS FROM THE MACHINE OPERATION CONTROL CENTER and its entrance. Confirm with the raid leader before entering: the chosen Iokath faction can interfere with Empire-versus-Republic operation grouping.

  5. 05

    Inside use the TRAM hub

Unlike a simple one-way tunnel, GODS was released encounter by encounter. The operation has a CENTRAL HUB with TRAM transport links; follow the chosen active next-boss destination rather than wandering back through old trash packs.

  6. 06

Confirm a full group and role

An eight-player subscribed group in Story Mode is the recommended first experience. Vengeance Juggernaut queues as DAMAGE, while tank duties use Immortal. This raid has complicated group puzzles even in Story.

ENCOUNTER 01 / 05 · CIRCULAR PLATFORM · FOUR ADD SPAWNS

TYTH, God of Rage

How you reach this boss: Take the tram into Tyth's round arena. Assign an off-tank/add-handler and face Tyth toward the outer edge before starting; the add spawns surround the central fight.

  1. 01

    Face Tyth OUTWARD

Main tank positions TYTH by the PLATFORM EDGE and points its frontal ENERGY WAVE away from healers and the four ADD SPAWNS.

  2. 02

    Watch RAGE stacks on boss

Killing adds causes TYTH to build RAGE. If the boss's cleave kills an add, the Rage gain is much larger. Ten stacks leads to raid-wide punishment, so do not indiscriminately AOE every add near Tyth.

  3. 03

    Handle GRACE (GREEN) droids

GRACE heals Tyth while interacting with Rage. Assign a player to call when to INTERRUPT or kill it; letting every healing cast through makes the boss take far longer.

  4. 04

    Kill GUARDIAN / LANCE priorities

GUARDIANS rush people and should be controlled. LANCE droids aim dangerous frontal cones. Keep their attacks away from the main group.

  5. 05

    Control JUSTICE shield

JUSTICE droids have a reflective shield. A stun or Lance-droid beam can break/overload that shield. Don't attack blindly from outside a reflection mechanic.

  6. 06

    Recover after the kill

Loot and follow the TRAM route back toward the central hub; the second encounter is AIVELA & ESNE. Do not assume a corpse teleports you automatically.

Story Mode: Story: boss positioning and appropriate add priority normally matter more than pure damage.

Veteran Mode: Veteran: Rage-stack discipline, GRACE manipulation and add control are stricter and can quickly wipe a raid if Tyth cleaves adds.

Stuck here? Tyth keeps enraging even though adds die? If it kills adds with its own cleave, Rage increases faster. Turn it to the outer edge and assign GRACE/other add handlers.

Next encounter: AIVELA and ESNE →

ENCOUNTER 02 / 05 · DIAMOND PLATFORM · POLARITY / CODEX

AIVELA and ESNE

How you reach this boss: From the tram hub go to the second platform, where Codices surround a central Nexus. Before attacking the boss sisters, distribute the temporary polarity items to all raid members.

  1. 01

    Destroy surrounding CODEX objects

Kill the CODEX devices around the platform FIRST; the central NEXUS is protected while they remain.

  2. 02

Each player picks up a POLARITY MODULE

Each destroyed Codex drops a CLICKABLE POLARITY MODULE. EVERY PLAYER must obtain one to receive temporary abilities for switching between WHITE/POSITIVE and RED/NEGATIVE.

  3. 03

    Lower central NEXUS to 50%

After all Codices are destroyed, damage NEXUS until AIVELA & ESNE enter and begin the encounter.

  4. 04

    Match color of incoming telegraphs

AIVELA is POSITIVE / WHITE-BLUE; ESNE is NEGATIVE / RED. When a colored attack targets you, use the matching POLARITY module button. Keep player-targeted circles away from teammates.

  5. 05

    Prioritize moving glare beams

GLARE droids project long PURIFICATION BEAMS. Match the beam color and avoid dragging it through the raid. When giant RADIANCE fields appear, match their color as possible.

  6. 06

    Phase 3: crossing WIPER BEAMS

At later health thresholds the bosses become mobile and same-colored WIPER BEAMS sweep the floor. Watch which color is next and switch polarization before it crosses the group.

  7. 07

    Finish sisters with controlled damage

Near the last health segment, coordinate the final kill order to reduce the chance their OVERDRIVE casts restore health and strengthen attacks.

Story Mode: Story: Polarity Modules are mandatory for safe participation; matching Glares and Wiper Beams is more important than chasing ideal DPS.

Veteran Mode: Veteran: proper beam positioning and color matching must be practiced; one player without a module can endanger teammates.

Stuck here? Someone has no temporary WHITE/RED buttons? They missed a clickable POLARITY MODULE dropped by a Codex. Check the platform before pushing NEXUS past 50%.

Next encounter: NAHUT, Son of Shadow →

ENCOUNTER 03 / 05 · INNER RING → PERIMETER WHEEL → ELECTRIFIED FLOOR

NAHUT, Son of Shadow

How you reach this boss: Take the next tram toward Nahut's circular chamber. The fight moves from the INNER platform to OUTER paths, through power coupling and rail turret stages and ends with a mobile perimeter burn.

  1. 01

    Find the CANDLE role

The raid assigns one or more players to use the CANDLE temporary device; it exposes NAHUT during its stealth phases. A designated Candle rotation makes the encounter predictable.

  2. 02

Inner ring: drop blue puddles away

Tank Nahut along the INNER PLATFORM EDGE and place MASS DISTORTION BLUE CIRCLES away from the main group. Stay alert for the stealth reveal and dangerous cleave.

  3. 03

Move to outer rim for POWER COUPLINGS

On the phase change, shift to the PERIMETER WHEEL. Destroy BOTH required POWER COUPLINGS while controlling Nahut and not stepping into the center singularity.

  4. 04

    Split RAIL TURRET duty

At the later phase, assign DPS to bring RAIL TURRETS to the required shield/damage threshold; the GRAVITY PULSE interaction pulls eligible turrets toward the singularity. Other players kite Nahut away from the raid.

  5. 05

    Never enter the SINGULARITY

The huge central red/black area is lethal. Keep to the connected walkways as the outer stages change.

  6. 06

Final burn: move ahead of ELECTRIFIED SECTIONS

Move around the OUTER PLATFORM in the tank's direction; the floor segments beneath Nahut become electrified progressively. DPS and healers stay AHEAD of the next charged section.

  7. 07

    Finish before usable floor disappears

Use DPS cooldowns during the final burn. If you run out of safe room, review previous adds/turret timing and shorten the final phase.

Story Mode: Story: using the Candle, clearing couplings and turrets, and moving before the outer floor electrifies are the navigation gates.

Veteran Mode: Veteran: tighter timing and coordination for distortion pools, turret assignments and the rotating burn.

Stuck here? Nahut disappears and nobody can hit him? The CANDLE mechanic is designed to reveal him. Assign a named user and check whether its temporary ability is ready rather than waiting idly.

Next encounter: SCYVA, Mother of Sorrows →

ENCOUNTER 04 / 05 · OMEGA PROTOCOL DROID → CFA RAILGUNS → SCYVA

SCYVA, Mother of Sorrows

How you reach this boss: From the hub take the path to Scyva's arena. The room is not immediately a direct fight with Scyva: an Omega droid and two front-corner guns must be dealt with first.

  1. 01

Phase 1: engage OMEGA PROTOCOL DROID

Focus OMEGA PROTOCOL DROID in the middle. INTERRUPT Accelerated Destruction / Explosive Force when possible to prevent dangerous tank or party damage.

  2. 02

Aim railgun beams through DROID to rear generators

The FRONT CORNER railguns target players with cones. Position those targeted players so the beams clip the Omega droid and strike generators at the BACK LEFT and BACK RIGHT.

  3. 03

Phase 2: destroy BOTH CFA RAILGUNS

Once the Omega/destroyed generators sequence advances, attack the TWO big turrets at the FRONT corners. Small Ignition Catalysts are optional supporting adds that can be cleared for safety.

  4. 04

Phase 3: engage SCYVA in center

SCYVA appears in the CENTER. Tanks face its RADIANCE attack away from others, and players avoid purple floating orbs and PURPLE ROTATING FLOOR SECTIONS.

  5. 05

    Interrupt IGNITE CORE when possible

At the relevant opening, use an interrupt on IGNITE CORE when the cast becomes interruptible. Avoid confusing its cast with the rotating ground-ring hazard.

  6. 06

    Recognize INITIALIZE EXTINCTION PROTOCOL

Near 30% or after a time gate, SCYVA casts INITIALIZE EXTINCTION PROTOCOL. Prepare to move continuously before the first targeted RED CIRCLES land.

  7. 07

    Keep moving during EXTINCTION

Avoid every consecutive RED targeting circle; lingering in one and trying to heal through repeat laser blasts is a frequent cause of full party wipes.

Story Mode: Story: the first two add/turret phases are mechanical setup for Scyva; Extinction Protocol remains a serious danger.

Veteran Mode: Veteran: aim railgun attacks accurately, keep interrupts on schedule and coordinate the varied gravity/energy effects.

Stuck here? The final 30% suddenly kills everyone? STOP STANDING STILL at INITIALIZE EXTINCTION PROTOCOL and move continuously as the red circle strikes follow players.

Next encounter: IZAX, the Destroyer →

ENCOUNTER 05 / 05 · MULTI-PHASE IZAX PLATFORM · BEAM PUZZLES

IZAX, the Destroyer

How you reach this boss: The last tram leads to Izax's huge raised platform. Make sure EVERY PLAYER is present before someone uses the TEMPORARY ABILITY to start; the elevator locks after activation.

  1. 01

Do not start with teammates still on elevator

A player uses a temporary ability bar action to begin the encounter, after which the entry elevator cannot be used. Check the raid is assembled before triggering.

  2. 02

Phase 1: tank outward; spread CASCADE

Face IZAX cleave away from teammates. If INDUCTION CASCADE marks you with a BLUE CIRCLE, move it AWAY from the group and use a defensive rather than sharing the blast.

  3. 03

Phase 2: get inside ANCHOR CIRCLE

When a large WHITE ANCHOR CIRCLE appears, move inside as assigned; destroy the ANCHOR DRONE and then the ELECTRO TETHER DROID. Stay clear of subsequent blue puddles.

  4. 04

Aim ENERGY DRONE beams through AMPLIFIER

Player with mechanic duty aims an ENERGY DRONE blue telegraph at an AMPLIFIER DRONE; then direct the amplified RED targeting beam into IZAX to remove its shield. Do not burn damage cooldowns into a fully protected shield.

  5. 05

    Phase 3: interrupt OMNICANNON

IZAX attempts to CHARGE OMNICANNON. Coordinate interrupts on its charging casts before the stacks reach a wipe threshold. If necessary, experienced players can use COMMUNICATIONS TOWERS to disrupt the charging sequence.

  6. 06

Phase 4: avoid PURPLE ORBS and targeted attacks

Move out of purple floor/orb effects and the targeted blue INDUCTION CASCADE. Watch each health-phase transition and follow the team's preassigned mechanic players.

  7. 07

Late phase: protect SCYVA and defeat TETHER DRONES

During the phase in which SCYVA provides support, prioritize interrupting/killing TETHER DRONES that restrain her or raid members. Dodge mines, moving targets and heavy marked attacks.

  8. 08

Final transition: stay on safe platforms

During the closing explosive/platform sequence, watch the current safe floor and follow the raid lead's movement calls. IZAX has many scripted transition mechanics even after its regular health damage ends.

Story Mode: Story: call Induction Cascade and let experienced players coordinate the drone/Amplifier beam, Omnicannon interrupts and tower devices.

Veteran Mode: Veteran: amplified beam charging, interrupt cadence and additional final phases require a full strategy; the Story summary is not a substitute for a Veteran Izax progression guide.

Stuck here? IZAX immune even with all droids dead? The shield goes down when ENERGY DRONE beams are aimed at the AMPLIFIER and its beam is directed INTO IZAX. Killing the anchor/tether adds alone does not do it.

REDDIT, SWTOR FORUMS & PUBLISHED GUIDES

Common raid problems and how players solved them

Player reports are not guaranteed fixes for every game version. These answers link to their source so readers can check the original context.

Where is the Operation entrance?

Go to IOKATH and locate its OPERATION CONTROL CENTER; use the central TRAM inside the Operation to travel between boss stations. The Scions' FACING THE MACHINES OF WAR quest comes from the Imperial Iokath mission board when the story conditions are met.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

I'm not subscribed; is the Iokath Operation blocking my main story?

NO. The Iokath Gods Operations quest is an OPTIONAL follow-up. Untrack the Operation mission, and continue the Traitor Arc (Umbara → Copero → Nathema) or the current appropriate purple chapter.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

Can Imperial and Republic characters group in Gods?

The Iokath faction allegiance can affect Operation grouping; the player guide states Empire and Republic groups cannot be mixed there, and a character that changed sides may need to reset allegiance or join on another character. Check current grouping before a raid.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

What makes Tyth get Rage stacks too quickly?

Killing adds builds Rage, and kills from Tyth's own cleave build more. Face Tyth outward, handle Grace deliberately and do not cleave adds indiscriminately.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

I don't have WHITE or RED buttons at Aivela and Esne?

Destroy the surrounding CODEX first. Each player needs the CLICKABLE POLARITY MODULE pickup to gain the temporary polarity-switch abilities.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

Nahut is invisible or we run out of platform?

Use the CANDLE device to reveal Nahut; assign turret/coupling players. On the final outer-ring phase, move BEFORE the ELECTRIFIED FLOOR sections catch the team.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

Scyva one-shots everyone near the end?

Prepare at INITIALIZE EXTINCTION PROTOCOL and KEEP MOVING out of the consecutive red targeting circles. Avoid the purple floor and orbs earlier in the phase.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

How do we break Izax's shield?

During the drone phase, position yourself to aim the ENERGY DRONE blue beam into the AMPLIFIER DRONE, then have the amplifier's beam hit IZAX. Destroying the Anchor Drone alone does not expose Izax.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

Who should run Izax's complicated mechanics?

For a first Story Mode clear, have one or two experienced players explain and handle amplifier aiming, communications-tower use, interrupt rotation and phase transitions. New players must at least move INDUCTION CASCADE away from the group.
