OPERATION WALKTHROUGH / YAVIN 4 · FIVE BOSSES · STORY / VETERAN

Temple of Sacrifice (Yavin 4): Imperial Operation Walkthrough

The Yavin 4 raid runs Malaphar → Sword Squadron → Underlurker → Revanite Commanders → Revan. This is the eight-player Temple of Sacrifice, not the separate solo Revan finale. Follow the western Yavin temple entrance, learn each raid room and the Sword Squadron bomb controls, then ascend the three floors of the final Revan fight.

How to get to the Imperial Operation entrance

YAVIN 4 → WEST / FAR-LEFT SIDE OF WORLD MAP → HUGE TEMPLE OF SACRIFICE ENTRANCE near the TEMPLE QUICK-TRAVEL POINT → MALAPHAR.

Available modes: Story and Veteran (Hard) Mode. Eight-player subscriber Operation. Temple of Sacrifice does not have the same Master/Nightmare tier as some other raids; The Enemy Within also offers a separate SOLO path.

  1. 01

Open the YAVIN 4 world map

Travel to Yavin 4 and look at the WEST / FAR-LEFT edge of the planet's explorable map. Do not confuse the large Operation temple gate with the smaller story-instance cave or Coalition Staging. A quick travel point lies near the huge temple entrance.

  2. 02

    Find the huge TEMPLE ENTRANCE

Go to the massive entrance for TEMPLE OF SACRIFICE. Players searching for it describe the FAR LEFT side of Yavin 4, beside the temple quick-travel point. Look for the yellow Operation phase entrance before joining; inside an appropriate group the entrance becomes available.

  3. 03

    Make an eight-player Operations group

Make sure you are currently subscribed and grouped for Operations. Select Story Mode for an introductory run. Vengeance Juggernaut is DAMAGE, not the Immortal tank specialization.

  4. 04

Don't abandon The Enemy Within unnecessarily

During Shadow of Revan, The Enemy Within offers EITHER six Coalition mission tasks as a solo-friendly approach OR this Operation to assault the temple. The shared solo Revan final encounter follows the temple branch; doing the Operation is not mandatory.

  5. 05

    Inside: follow five distinct encounters

Proceed through the temple approaches, courtyard, bunker and sanctum as they open. The boss order is MALAPHAR → SWORD SQUADRON → UNDERLURKER → REVANITE COMMANDERS → REVAN; the final Revan battle moves across THREE FLOORS.

ENCOUNTER 01 / 05 · OVERGROWN COURTYARD · SAVAGERY CIRCLE

Malaphar the Savage

How you reach this boss: Enter the first open arena after the temple approach. The boss stands inside a visible combat circle; tanks establish aggro before the raid enters its damaging center.

  1. 01

    Understand the ring

INSIDE Malaphar's circle you gain SAVAGERY stacks: more damage dealt but also more incoming damage. OUTSIDE you build EXHAUSTION, reducing your offense.

  2. 02

    Step out to reset stacks

DPS can briefly leave when Savagery becomes dangerous, wait for the status to switch to Exhaustion, then go back in. Healers generally stay outside in Story Mode.

  3. 03

    Watch the tank's stacks

Malaphar follows the tank. If that tank cannot safely drop dangerous Savagery stacks, coordinate a tank swap or positioning rather than letting incoming damage rise unchecked.

  4. 04

    Use the spear marker

When SPEAR TOSS chooses a player, move the RED TARGET CIRCLE away from the party; where feasible place it over the incoming adds.

  5. 05

    Kill or control adds

Enemy adds join after the fight starts and in subsequent waves. Don't drag them through the healer group; use AOE damage when it is safe.

  6. 06

    Exit through the opened approach

After Malaphar dies, continue to the next fortified temple approach; do not spend time trying to interact with the central circle as though it were a quest terminal.

Story Mode: Story: the circle stacks and avoiding Spear Toss are the main lessons; healers can stay outside with little penalty.

Veteran Mode: Veteran: watch Savagery/Exhaustion carefully; tank swapping and spearing add groups may matter considerably more.

Stuck here? Group dying despite modest boss attacks? Inspect SAVAGERY stacks on the tank and melee players; those stacks amplify incoming damage.

Next encounter: Sword Squadron: Unit 1 and Unit 2 →

ENCOUNTER 02 / 05 · FORTIFIED BUNKER / TWO WALKERS · BOMB STOCKPILE

Sword Squadron: Unit 1 and Unit 2

How you reach this boss: Follow the temple route into the large fortified walker area. Before engaging assign the Unit 1 tank, Unit 2 tank and a specific BOMB RUNNER; identify the stack of bombs by the back-right shield door.

  1. 01

Split the walkers and designate bomb runner

Assign one tank to each unit. UNIT 2 is NOT TAUNTABLE, so its tank should secure threat at the start; DPS initially focus UNIT 1.

  2. 02

    Find BOMBS at rear-right door

Stand at the arena BACK-RIGHT, just to the RIGHT of the large shield door. Several clickable BOMBS lie here. The bomb runner must physically pick one up; killing enemies does not produce the shield-break effect.

  3. 03

    Remove Unit 1's EMERGENCY SHIELDING

UNIT 1 gains a strong shield, first around 30 seconds and then on a repeated timer. The bomb runner carries the picked-up bomb UNDER UNIT 1 to break the shield. Do not waste DPS into an active shield.

  4. 04

    Time subsequent bomb pickups

Shields recur independently of when the previous bomb was used. Collect the next bomb in advance so it reaches Unit 1 shortly after a new shield appears. Communicate how many remain.

  5. 05

Move the HUGE GRENADE target away

A random non-tank receives a very LARGE WHITE CIRCLE. Run clear of the raid before it explodes; everyone dodges RED missile circles and the Unit 1 tank moves out of BLUE Rapid Fire circles.

  6. 06

Face Unit 1 away; protect Unit 2 tank

Unit 1's Mega Blast fires forward; tank it toward the LEFT side away from the group. Keep your second tank alive while controlling Unit 2's aggro without relying on taunts.

  7. 07

    Coordinate the last two kills

Bring BOTH walkers to low health and defeat them WITHIN roughly 30 seconds of each other. If Unit 1 is shielded, hold DPS on Unit 2 until the bomb runner breaks it.

Story Mode: Story: bomb retrieval and simultaneous walker finishes are required mechanics; a good bomb runner makes the encounter far easier.

Veteran Mode: Veteran: stricter positioning, target control and rapid mechanical execution. Unit 2's untantable behavior makes opening aggro important.

Stuck here? Unit 1 is immune or barely moving on its health bar? Someone must CLICK A BOMB at the BACK-RIGHT DOOR and stand BENEATH Unit 1 with it. No ordinary interrupt removes Emergency Shielding.

Next encounter: The Underlurker →

ENCOUNTER 03 / 05 · CAVE OF FOREBODING · FALLING ROCKS

The Underlurker

How you reach this boss: Continue into the cave after Sword Squadron. Identify the open arena, its entrance and exit sides, then spread your DPS across the three LURKERLING spawn points.

  1. 01

Start on Underlurker and assign three add locations

Burn the boss between mechanic waves. Assign players to THREE LURKERLINGS that appear along the wall, from the entrance-side area toward the exit side.

  2. 02

    Defeat all three LURKERLINGS

Kill the three adds rapidly or their jump attacks overwhelm group healing. Use splash damage carefully and focus any add left alive.

  3. 03

    Watch COLLAPSE cast and ground

Underlurker casts COLLAPSE, marking spots with RED CIRCLES before rocks fall. Get OUT of circles; rocks can instantly kill anyone hit.

  4. 04

Move BEHIND a fallen rock for RAGE STORM

Once rocks have landed, move into the GREEN PROTECTED AREA behind a solid fallen rock. RAGE STORM deals huge damage if you do not use cover. Do not stand in front of the rock.

  5. 05

    Handle DEVASTATION CROSS

After Rage Storm, Underlurker jumps and draws a BLUE CROSS. Veteran groups assign positions in the cross arms. Story groups should also respect the displayed pattern rather than running randomly.

  6. 06

Repeat the same add → rock → cross cycle

The encounter repeats roughly every 50 seconds. Pre-position the next add team before a second group spawns; keep using the actual collapse rocks rather than old locations.

  7. 07

If cross looks correct but fails

Older SWTOR players report position-desynchronization on Underlurker's cross. In a repeat failure, move decisively to the called location before the mechanic and consider a small jump once positioned; this is player-reported, not a guaranteed fix.

Story Mode: Story: kill adds, hide during Rage Storm and handle the cross. Old mid-boss standing-in-the-middle shortcuts are patch-dependent and not guaranteed.

Veteran Mode: Veteran: cross assignments and killing all lurkerlings before Rage Storm are substantially less forgiving. Do not rely on an old 5.x stack strategy.

Stuck here? Sudden raid wipe after rocks? Behind the rock, enter the GREEN SAFE AREA during RAGE STORM; merely running away from red collapse circles is not enough.

Next encounter: Revanite Commanders →

ENCOUNTER 04 / 05 · THREE DOORS · CYCLING BOSSES

Revanite Commanders

How you reach this boss: Follow the opening passage after Underlurker into a large chamber with THREE enemy doorways: Kurse on the LEFT, Deron in the CENTER and Sano on the RIGHT when entering.

  1. 01

    Know the three bosses

The encounter uses LORD KURSE (left), DERON CADORUSO (center) and SANO THRICA (right). They appear in individual waves before a final three-boss burn.

  2. 02

    Clear adds between waves

During downtime, destroy OUTLAW and MANDALORIAN Revanites first; their frontal cones and area attacks are more dangerous than many of the boss's normal hits.

  3. 03

    Watch each commander's arrival

The next Commander announces arrival and jumps in. Switch DPS to that boss until it retreats; do not keep firing at inaccessible bosses on the ledges.

  4. 04

    Fight SANO inside his protection

Sano uses ENERGY REFLECTION FIELD, which punishes hits from outside its shield. Step into the effective shield area when damaging him and stay alert for adds' dangerous cones.

  5. 05

    Cleanse DERON's Heat Signature

Deron uses TRACER MISSILE and GUIDED MISSILE VOLLEY. Healers should remove dangerous HEAT SIGNATURE stacks and the raid should move away from Mandalorian Death From Above circles.

  6. 06

    Avoid KURSE's purple slam

Kurse's SOARING SMASH displays a large PURPLE area. Leave it before the damage resolves.

  7. 07

    Final phase: all three together

After each commander has cycled through its earlier appearances, all THREE land. Assign someone to control persistent adds; burn down a priority boss without letting adds overwhelm healers.

Story Mode: Story: the main challenge is controlling doorway add waves and finishing the simultaneous final phase.

Veteran Mode: Veteran: reflected damage, healer cleansing and long-range outlaw cone attacks demand stricter discipline.

Stuck here? Bosses keep disappearing before they die? That is intended during the rotating phase. Clear door adds, wait for the next announced commander, then finish all three in the final burn.

Next encounter: Revan, HK-47 and the Machine Core →

ENCOUNTER 05 / 05 · THREE-FLOOR MACHINE · JUMPING ROUTE

Revan, HK-47 and the Machine Core

How you reach this boss: Proceed through the High Sanctum and into the MACHINE chamber. Before starting explain that the encounter changes FLOORS twice and the last target is a Machine Core, not Revan's health bar.

  1. 01

    FLOOR 1: attack Revan

Tank Revan facing away from the raid. His IMPALE cone can knock the tank toward the ledge; position the tank with a rock pillar behind to block being thrown off.

  2. 02

    FLOOR 1: handle HK-47 grenades

After Revan disappears around 64%, HK-47 arrives. On HANDFUL OF GRENADES, SPREAD APART to prevent overlapping explosions. When HK activates INVULNERABILITY FIELD, move INSIDE his shield to deal damage.

  3. 03

CLIMB to FLOOR 2 after HK

When HK's phase ends, use the newly appearing ROCK PLATFORMS around the side of the arena. Cross to a small BRAZIER PLATFORM, take the STAIRS and use the final ROCK STEPS to JUMP onto the next-floor ledge. Do not run off the final gap.

  4. 04

FLOOR 2: destroy FOUR Machine Foci

On the second level, locate FOUR distinct MACHINE FOCUS columns and destroy ALL FOUR. Revan returns afterward; purple FORCE ABERRATION circles rotate around the ring, so keep moving to clear space.

  5. 05

    PORTAL to FLOOR 3

After Revan's second-floor damage phase, a ground PORTAL appears. Step INTO the portal to teleport up. Downed group members may respawn/revive briefly; get them into the portal before environmental damage kills them.

  6. 06

    FLOOR 3: break RESONANCE

At the top Revan channels RESONANCE with a shield. Burn through the shield to interrupt the long cast, then continue damaging him while avoiding PURPLE unstable circles.

  7. 07

FINALE: attack MACHINE CORE from INSIDE WHITE RING

When Revan withdraws around 9%, the MACHINE CORE becomes the target. Stand INSIDE its WHITE CHARGED BARRIER CIRCLE (close to core) to prevent attack reflection; running off the ring or Force Charging the core may land you outside the shield.

  8. 08

    Check weekly completion and exit

Destroy the Machine Core, verify that the [WEEKLY] Operation objective has counted and use the instance exit. The shared Shadow of Revan solo finale is a different encounter after the temple outcome.

Story Mode: Story: Floor-1 HK grenades, careful rock-platform jumps and damaging the Core from inside its protective ring are essential.

Veteran Mode: Veteran: substantially more involved boss positioning and mechanic assignments; use detailed Hard Mode diagrams instead of treating this introductory route as a complete Veteran Revan strategy.

Stuck here? Can't reach floor two? Follow rocks to the BRAZIER PLATFORM, then the STAIRS and ROCK STEPS; use a JUMP for the final gap. Damage reflecting on the last target? Step INSIDE the Machine Core's WHITE ring.

REDDIT, SWTOR FORUMS & PUBLISHED GUIDES

Common raid problems and how players solved them

Player reports are not guaranteed fixes for every game version. These answers link to their source so readers can check the original context.

Where is the Temple of Sacrifice entrance?

On Yavin 4, the HUGE TEMPLE gate is at the FAR LEFT / WEST of the map, close to a quick-travel point. It is not the Coalition Staging camp and not the solo Revan phase.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

Must I run Temple of Sacrifice to finish Shadow of Revan?

NO. The Enemy Within lets you complete six Coalition missions instead. That route and the Operation route lead into the shared solo Revan confrontation. The Operation is optional for solo story progression.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

Why is Sword Squadron Unit 1 shielded?

Unit 1 uses EMERGENCY SHIELDING. Pick up one of the bombs at the BACK-RIGHT side beside the shield door, RUN UNDER Unit 1 and trigger the shield-break. Coordinate the two kills close together.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

Underlurker wipes us even though we dodged the red circles?

Collapse's falling rocks are only the first mechanic. You must shelter BEHIND a fallen rock in the GREEN area during RAGE STORM, then react to the BLUE CROSS in Devastation.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

The Underlurker cross shows us in position but still fails?

Old Reddit discussions describe occasional player-location desync. Move early to the assigned position and some players jump after positioning to refresh the game's location; this is anecdotal and does not replace correct cross assignments.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

Which Commander comes from which door?

Facing the three doors from inside: KURSE LEFT, DERON CENTER, SANO RIGHT. You rotate through six single-boss appearances before the three-way burn.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

How do we reach Revan's second floor?

After HK-47, climb the spawning rock route to the small brazier platform, take stairs, then jump the final gap between rock steps and second floor. Do not use an ordinary exit elevator.

Original discussion or mechanic reference ↗

Is the raid Revan kill the final solo story duel?

No. The Temple of Sacrifice defeats the temple's raid challenges, while the Shadow of Revan storyline still has its own group-of-allies solo climax afterward.
